I thought the PC started it all. What about DOOM and Wolfenstien (the originals). Back then, I would have to say the PC beat the consoles in terms of game appeal. Only later with PS, did consoles really start to offer the kind of variety that the PC had started.

Complete tosh, they'll tell you that because it was the first type that did well, not the first of it's genre. Games like SOD (sword of dystany) were being made in the basements of all nerds when the idea of Doom was just a drawing on a toilet wall.

So after Goldeneye, Rare don't know how to make a decent FPS? I doubt it!
And although Nintendo haven't got much experience in the area, Metroid just shows that this is good, because they're making it a new and original way, rather than just using the same style as ALL other PC FPS do, only with "nicer" graphics.
And although the creators of Doom did sort of start things, Rare re-defined the genre with Goldeneye, putting the sort of new ideas that few others had.
Head shots, Sniping, Stealth, proper guard AI, re-loading guns, console splitscreen multiplayer - it all started with that N64 game!

Meteroid and Perfect Dark vs Doom3 and Halo 2. I'd have to say Halo and doom win, mainly because they are made by developers who know how to make decent FPS, and in the case of Doom, the developers created the genre.

Quake 4 on the x-box!!!!! I don't think so somehow. I haven't seen any screenshots of the game, but I'd say the quake 4 engine which would be used would need a hefty sytem to run, and the PS2 can 'just' manage to run games with the quake 3 engine. Maybe the PS3, but I doubt we'll ever see it on the PS2.
I'm gonna get both Halo 2 and Doom III, looking to be class games.

WTF is that supposed to mean? :-D
If it's a dig at the Gamecube, the likes of Perfect Dark and Metroid are more than a match for these mere PC (and in the case of Halo) Mac ports!

Doom 3 will probably be released later.
And they'll be better on the PC anyway.
