Nope, you're wrong twice. Because Tom is probably one of the Valar who created the earth including trees. And because he found Goldberry after wandering alone for an age. So there. Gimp.

I read The Hobbit when I was aroudn that age... didn't bother with LOTR till I heard the film was on the way though.

Still on my short list:

War And Peace
The Old Testament
The Female Eunuch

Not only have I read all of J.R.R's middle earth work I have also read many of Christopher Tolkiens Adapatations.

And in the "Tales of Tom Bombadil it reads"

"Tom is old, nearly as old as the trees
He has survived all of the ages on Goldberrys knee"

I read it many times before film, including for the first time when I was 7. I also have read the Silmarillion, which rocks. And the book is still better than the film. And ta :)

Anyone who manages to read a whole book will probably get my vote too.
