"Who is the bravest person you know?"

I ask this question because over the last 4 months i have realised that i am coward compared to what i have to tell you.

Back in January i went back home to Devon to visit my family. My Nan wasn't feeling so good, she had found a lump on the back of her head causing her considerable pain. But she had been to the Doctors and was told it was a cyst and was given antibiotics. Things stayed stable for about a month and then Nan lost the feeling in the right hand side of her face, and also finding lumps in her cheek and neck. The doctors told her it could be Bells Palsy, was given more antibiotics and stronger pain killers.

Over the next month things got worse and she was sent for a Brain Scan. The day after mothers day my Nan was diagnosed with multiple brain tumors located in the neck, throat, nose, eye cavities, inside her skull and outside her skull.

My whole family was in shock, in previous years my nan had fought off lung cancer and was in remission for 8 years, 2 years ago she had 2 heart attacks and a triple bypass. Nobody thought that she could not fight this of aswell. But immediatley it was obvious the consultant could not practically do anything for her, she had a team of professionals making sure that she remained comfortable through all that was to come.

My Nan just accepted all that was given to her, total head radiation cause there were so many that it was useless to pin point them. An amazing range of tablets and morphin medicine, various aids and furniture so she could still cook etc.

Then in the middle of april she lost the use of her legs and had to have a wheelchair kindly donated by the red cross.

At this time i was constantly back and forth from essex to devon on the train not wanting to leave my cherished nans side wanting to push her round the supermarket and town. (simple i know but she loved shopping)

Then things got too much for my grandad to cope with and they moved into my mums house on May 11th. The weekend after i went to visit again....... knowing it would be the last time that i see my nan alive. I didn't know what to say when i had to leave the following sunday evening, so just lent down and said see you later Nan. She gave me a Kiss and a hug and said yeah see you soon. I always will remember that moment cause the next day my nan had all her medication removed and put on a morphin drip and could no longer stay awake for long or communicate well. On the Tuesday my nan passed away at 5.05pm with all my family around her.

My nan was so brave all throughout her illness and she will remain an inspiration in my life........... At this moment in time i would never be able to cope like she did! But i hope that in time i will be able to be brave and accept all that is dealt to me in my life and to lift my head up like my nan did and carry on to they very end with bravery and Dignity!

Well...... the bravest person I know of is Jonny Knockville from Jackass! His superior bravery to be shot in the "willy" with a paintball gun, standing upside in a portaloo while it is being turned upside down, maybe stupidity but who else do you know that would be crazy enough and brave enough to go through some of the, possibably, fatal stunts that he pulls off from week to week on Mtv's hitshow?!

But being deadly honest the bravest person I know is... my little, 8 year old sister. She manages to put up with her epilepsy very well. She has fits fairly often and is brave to go.... while she is geting teased by everyone in her class and all her friends, she often comes home from school and goes cry in her room all night, but the strength she has to go to school day in, day out is just remarkable. We are all so proud of her, and really hope that the bullying and teasing that is making her life a misery will soon stop.

Mate round mine. He will do anything. Jump off a 50ft thing into water. Catch....... MOTHS....... in his hands! erm..... tackle big hefty 10ft guys in rugby.

He does it all.

Wow. Well I think I sort of know how you feel. My Mum's had cancer for some 10 months now :(

Can't really think who the bravest person is right now...
