Mid '98. With six months till the releases of OOT the N64 was starting to run out of "shocking" games. The N64 couldn't last forever and there were rumours about a "top secret" ninty console.
These rumours started when the team repsonsible for 1080o was asked to "research new hardwear"
Ninty fired the company that done the N64's graphic chip and hired a new company. In a matter of months N2000 was to be the name of nintys next gen offering.

In december of that year nintendo anounced that the console was a reality. The good news was that ninty were willing to move to discs but the bad news was they would have to wit till 2000/2001 (or 2002 if you count europe)

But even worse new is when shigsy decided that he would make the long rumoured SM64'2 for a different console (sunshine!!)

Just before E3 the next year a spokes person announcedthat they had ground breakingdeals with companies such as IBM, Panasonic and NEC to help create the newly named "project dolphin"Due to be released christmas 2000, ninty hired companies from around the world to help make games for the launch.

The next year Microsoft announced there next gen console X-BOX. Things were hotting up for ninty, they had to get a move on or Microsoft would beat them to launch.

On the 23rd of august ninty unveiled the GAMECUBE. Rumours of ninty calling it Starbox were now laughed at and the company were ready to launch, but as usual shigsy said"Were not ready yet. It'll have to be delayed."

There were rumours every where about mario being killed off and Luigi buying a vacuum store but they wee all put to rest in march 01 when the cube was playable at E3.

Then later that year(Usa and Japn) The gamecube was launched and the next year it was leleased here in europe.
