Well with no back up up front, what happens if Van Nistelrooy crocks his Knee again (as these injuries are famous for being the easiest to re-occur) last time he was out for 11 months. If this injury happens in september and there are now transfer window Man utd could not get a replacement and would be thoroughly and utterly screwed until January (at the earliest). That could cost them a lot of points and even throw them out of CL contention. Anyway ferguson must sign a new PROLIFIC striker before the deadline otherwise he risks an even worse season than last year. Just spreading doom and gloom but it probably won't happen!

I read that there is a clause n Kluivert's contract that not only potentially halves his wages next year, but also sets his transfer fee to something under £10million. I forget what activated that clause though, but it wasn't relegation or anything stupid.

Roy Makaay...
Patrick Kluivert....
Ronaldinho.....

All have been strongly-linked with moves to United within the last week - espeically PSG's Brazillian World Cup-star!

The PSG manager denies that he is ready to sell Ronaldinho to United, now, or that he has even agreed to make a deal with them. But he did say that he will wait untill the end of the month - after the French season has fully finished - untill he makes his descision on who stays, and who goes.

And here I am waiting untill 1st July!! :D

Patrick Kluivert's being linked with us all the time, and I've love to see him sign this Summer... But I just can't see him leaving Barcelona - not for the £7m-fee some 'papers seem to have been beliving they'll let him go for, anyway!

If not Ronaldinho, then I'd like to see Roy Makaay sign.
Not only would he be cheaper, but I feel he'd be better-suited to that supporting-role Paul Scholes seems to do so well. ...Better than Kluivert, anyway. Plus, he's bound to be the cheapest of the 3 - and he's already stated, recently, that he wants the play Premiership football, and that Man United are the ONLY club he wants to play for! :D

But we'll just have to see!
Whatever happens, Fergie has already said that he'll be looking to buy 3 new-faces this Summer (although, I doubt these will be the 3!).

Escudé, Bellion, and van Buyten?

Well if the rumours are true and United manage to buy both Kluivert and Ronaldinho then they're sorted for whatever, if anything, happens to the Van man.
But Ferguson does indeed need to bring in at least one Striker PROVEN at the highest level. Sorry but Defoe hasn't proved himself at the highest level yet so i doubt we could rely on him to take some of the pressure off Ruud and help us win the Champ League trophy again. Now Patrik Kluivert? That's a whole different story, whenever defenders looked at the team sheet and saw the 2 dutchmen upfront i think there might be a couple of injuries suddenly occuring :D

Man United want to sign Jermaine Defoe, and he's quite cheap- I think he'll go north.

Looks like Van Nistlerooy was okay this season, with Man United also winning the Premiership.

If you take 30 goals of uniteds total and add 10 which his replacement (forlan) might score Man utd would be about 7th. They are dependent on him at the moment im afraid and ferguson knows it. They desperately need another striker. Crespo or claudio lopez fit the bill. and could be negotiated on with the stam money. Rivaldo would have been good buut they didn't bother.

Sorry Ashley, but we're not a one-man team!

We don't rely on the goals of Van Nistelrooy alone, we know we can do much better than that as a team. Look at the midfield alone and my point is proven. Even without Van Nistelrooy we have Solskjaer and the promising young Diego Forlan - still searching for that one goal.
Aswell as him we could get midfield goals from player like Giggs, Beckham and Scholes, while they can also provide for us.

The point i'm trying to make here is that we don't neccesarily need Van Nistelrooy to take us all the way. We've done it without him before and we can do it again. Last season was just a mess.
If anything can stop us then it'll be more defensive errors as Rio's partner keeps slipping up - just like what happened to Stam.
