Coolio? I haven't spoke to you in a while so I've forgot how much of an idiot you are, it's all coming back to me now though.
I've tried site submitters in the past, and they all sucked, so I gave up. Bah.

Thats the express one where you get your site done in a week!
Theres a free option next to it!
Then click suggest a site right at the bottom...
Fill in the stuff, after a month or two it will be on all search engines...
Upminster now shows upminsterfc.com on nearly every search engine because I did that...

Not always totally up to date and it does miss a few points, but still a decent resource. More important for you though, theres a section telling you how to find if your url is in an engine database. :)
One thing you should remember it can take a very long time for your submission to be listed, even if its just a crawler based engine. And if theres any human verification process in there then you can be waiting 3-6 months. :)

Title
You should try to get as many keywords in here as possible but keep it short and readable. If you have a web site about Picasso, a bad title would be: "A web site telling you lots of things about him." Here you have included no keywords. A better title (though maybe not perfect) would be: "Pablo Ruiz Picasso :: Biography".
Body Text ...
The most important thing here is the prominence of keywords - where they appear in the text. If possible, you should always ensure that the first thing after the tag is text and that it includes as many keywords as possible, e.g.: "
Pablo Ruiz Picasso :: Biography
..." You should try to make sure that you have lots of instances of your keywords without looking as though you are spamming and ensuring it is still human-readable.META Tags
The two most important tags are 'Keywords' and 'Description'. The 'Keywords' tag should have a list of your keywords without any repetition and try to get your most important keywords near the beginning. The 'Description' tag should contain a description of your site following the same guidelines as the page title. There are many other META tags you can use (robots, author etc) but 'Keywords' and 'Description' are the most important. META tags look like the following: "" Note that it uses the 'content' attribute not 'value'.
Alt & Title attributes
Although most search engines ignore these, there are some who don't and since search engines can't interpret images, some rely on these tags to extract information (e.g. if you had a graphical menu bar, use the 'alt' and 'title' attributes to give a text alternative).
There are also many other things you can do to improve search rankings, but these are the main ones. In general, just make your page a good and interesting page and try to get it linked to by as many people as possible and you can't go far wrong.
Someone else can write about things that search engines don't like - I can't be arsed to write any more.....
