Dolby Digital is the most advanced sound system the Dolby has created, Pro Logic is before that, Digital sound is in 0 and 1's while Others are analogue or a wave. Dolby Digital has 256 sound channels, while Pro Logic has only around 5.

5.1 is totally different to Dolby Pro Logic! 5.1 enables the imersion of complete 100% surround souns, sure you can have a system and run it on games but all you will get is all the speakers blasting out the same sounds as the Sub-woofer! 5.1 however enable certain sounds to travel between certain speakers, it also enables (on Fifa 2002) for the gamer to pick out where the chants are coming from in the crowd. On Project Gotham Racing you can hear the cars coming up on the 2 back speakers, the same with Amped and Conflict Desert Storm.
So yes, Gamezfreak is right, 5.1 is enabled on all Xbox games, but it still doesn't stop a psone owner from using a 5.1 system to fill the room with the same sounds just as you do with the GameCube! 5.1 is different from Dolby and Dolby Digital, 5.1 is only available on the Xbox games, the cut-scenes on MGS2 were the only out-side source to contain 5.1 out of the ingame sounds.

Its a different sound thing, Dolby Digital has 256 sound channels separated into 6 speakers, whilst pro logic has only 5 channels of sound
I was talking about Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound.
My bad.

If you want to know exactly what mine is it's a Creative Inspire 5.1 Digital 5700, costs about £250
