I had a laugh today. Whilst my brother set his playstation 2 up in my room (bigger TV) to watch the features on the Lord of the Rings DVD disc, I, for the first time, had a chance to compare the two controllers - GameCube and PS2 - to see which was the biggest.

I only thought of doing so when I remembered lots of people criticising the GameCube controller saying it's too small. And because usually I can't be bothered to do things like this, I decided to whilst all I had to do was reach down and pick up each controller.

I found out that the GameCube controller is actually BIGGER than the Playstation 2 controller!

First of all, it's more rounded at the back, though that's not suprising the Gamecube controller having a big rumble pak souldered into the back of it.

Secondly, on both pads, there are circular shapes containing components. On the PS2 it's the 3D sticks, on the GameCube it's the D-pad and C-stick. The GameCube's pad has the two slightly further apart - only by a few millimetres though.

The controller is wider than the PS2's too, again only by millimetres.

The GameCube's controller is actually bulkier as well.

Ok, this is likely to start console wars - though it's not intended. I'm just stating facts and laughing at comments said by PS2 fans (can't remember who exactly) who stated that they thought the GameCube controller was too small. I bet they must've had a hell of a job trying to play on the Playstation 2 then!

I don't know where you can get them cheap, Special Reserve's the cheapest I've seen. Plus, the GC controller's the best on the market at the moment, and the cheapest too, so you're getting a good deal.

This'll sound a bit stupid but I think it's our duty as GameCube owners to buy the actual controller, not some adapter and a half-arsed Sony one.

Long live Ninty!

The gc controler is the most comfortable and well built controller around. The ps2 one is too small and slidy and don't get me started on the xbox one

Those PS Analogue Sticks gave my thumb blisters the first time I used them!
It's also so uncomfortable to use them BOTH at the same time.
The GC pad works well because they're not positioned directly next to one-another, and are at more of a diagonal position from each-other.

Can you believe that people (including SR) are selling those things that allow you to use PS pads on the Cube??
I can't! They'll never sell - not even for £9.99!
As GameCube owners, we won't accept anything else but the Official pads.
But you never know, they may sell to the X-Box owners...

You could offer them as free gifts and they STILL wouldn't sell! :S

I can't seem to move the playstation's analogue sticks towards each other and I have quite big hands, I also have trouble getting to the circle, triangle ect. buttons too. The gamecube pad seems to fit my hands better though and I can reach the buttons easily.
I'm not just a nintendo fan though, I didn't really like the N64 pad what was the point in the left stick. I only used it in one game because it didn't use the the analogue stick.

err...the PC pads are even worse...I've yet to witness a half decent PC pad, all PC games are played much better with a keyboard and mouse anyway.

I have no problem with the D-pad I always press the right direction but my men seem to want to flee, but that's the bad thing about the game though.

I think the GC's pad is the most comfortable compared to the pads of sony & microsoft. It matters alot to me how the pad feels. Although sony's aint bad, nintendo have done it again after the great n64 controller which gave more freedom to games ;)jc

Not rushing things and caring for customers is something Nintendo do best. Sony just displayed their disloyalty with the poorly designed Dual Shock 2 controller and shoddy PS2.
