I haven't posted a topic in prime for a long time. I haven't posted a topic that is meant to be read seriously in a long time in either of the FOG forums. This is my honest opinion. by Joby Stephens.

Eight years ago I didn't know any of you. I was an energetic kid who really only was starting to like girls and marvel at how they developed and also I was loving games and dreamt about killing Luigi to take his place. There was only enough room for Nintendo in my life. Girls came second. School work third. Sega was the devil itself. I was a complete and utter Nintendroid.

Five ago I was enjoying looking at how my females friends had changed, I hid my hobby of gaming as it was deemed for freaks and nerds at my public school. I still only wanted to hear about Nintendo items. Nothing else was any good. If it wasn't going to be released on the N64. It was worthless. It was crap. It was NOTHING.

*stands up quickly, looks in mirror and sighs*

Oh how I have changed.

*glances around his room and onto the many many wall brackets around the television*

I now have all the consoles, in one room. I dreamt of this display when I was young. Seriously. My dreams did not move, only this image. I which my current dreams do come true in the future. I can't wait to have a jacuzzi with Rachel Stevens... opps. Anyway, I have worked something out. About consoles and gaming, and women (thanks Goatboy). I will talk about the consoles and gaming though (sorry Grix). ;)

Everyone is always going on about one company or another, if its liking them or hating them. Defaming them for 'childish' games or labelling them 'rich fools who make a huge gay console'. The fact of the matter is that each of the three consoles out on sale at the moment are brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. Which is best? Thats down to personal preference. My favorite at the moment is the GameCube. Not because of the games either, its just so easy to move from television to television. In my house thats needed.

However, that doesn't mean I don't like the other two. Let me start by saying I have to really struggle to like the cosmetics of the XBox. I really don't like the company behind the console you see, however I brought the console and gave it a chance and I now realise the potentional this thing has. I really do hope Microsoft get it right but also don't hurt other gaming companies in the industry at the same time (because thats what they do).

The Sony Playstation, I am very impressed with. GTA3 is worth what I paid for the console on its own. MGS2 is a very decent game and Final Fantasy X is a great game. Shame about the DVD player, however I have the XBox so no worries!

I have brought the most games for the GameCube. Why? Because I love the games on it. I do get bored of them however while I first start to play and complete the enjoyment factor really make me miss my girlies calling me or anything thrown in my face. Even baps. At times....

Potentional, thats a huge word. One I seem to be using a lot in all cases of the four consoles, The Playstation has potential because its just doing so well! The Gamecube has potentional and that is evident from the games out in the next two quarters. The XBox has potentional. A huge amount of potentional and it really needs to start living up to its power. The fourth console.. all women have potentional. Especially my ones. Damn right they are consoles. (awaits a beating from all directions).

Vanilla Sky.

There is enough room for all three of the consoles.

Thank you for reading.

Take a trip in a car to Paddington station. That console is not hard to buy.

I couldn't help but nod my head during reading that - I feel that limiting yourself to one console, either through a misplaced sense of loyalty or whatever, ultimately lose out.

As I've said in the past, it's all about the games, regardless of who makes them, or what console they appear on. Where the good games go, I go. Simple.

Original was better and had a better ending. However, I do like Tom Cruise as an actor and I also couldn't remember the original saying in how it was spelt.

bah! Vanilla Sky, indeed. Quote from the original, it makes more sense (and is the better of the two movies, not being another Tom Cruise platform). Abre Los Ojos.

Anyway, to the point in question. I have always championed the open console idea, where any console is as good as you make it. That's what the Army of the Free Gamer is all about and thats what I stand for.

Of course, as many point out, when you have limited funds and space, you have to choose a console wisely for fear that it will have to last you a very long time. I would love to get hold of an Xbox, but the only way I could do that is to sell by Dreamcast (for some measely amount) and put up the rest of the money.

In the meantime, if I could ever get away with it I'd have a NES, SNES, Mastersystem and Megadrive here as well, as it is I've got my Saturn up here on the small TV for my retro Sega addiction and my four consoles downstairs, none of which I'm prepared to part with.

Very good post er-no you are right about the three consoles. All consoles have a downside but that doesnt mean that there isnt enough spac for just one console for example : The gamecube doesnt have a dvd player, The Ps2 only has 2 controller ports and the xbox some people may say is to big. But whatever there downside they all have advantges and all deserve some respect.
