Thanks to Stryke, I've been hooked up to 'Upcoming Movies' - http://movies.yahoo.com/upcoming/ and have found some rather interesting news regarding upcoming films. Feel free to add your own news also.
The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers is expected out in America in December, so expect it out here in early 2003. It is also rumoured that it may be a 12 rating. It has been proclaimed one of the most expensive films to make ever. However, as three films are being made, that's $63 million each, not a lot.
X-Men 2 is expected out in America in May 2003, so expect it out here in mid-2003 (possibly Summer?). Also, the promotional title is 'X2'. There will be a new mutant in the film who was introduced in the first one (who could possibly be Sentator Kelly). The mutant appears to be water-based and has plasticity. Gambit, Beast, and Nightcrawler are apparently pencilled in for cameo appearences. Interestingly, David Hayter (who does the voice of Solid Snake and MGS for the people who've been living under a rock) wrote the screenplay.
XXX (Triple X) should come out late this year, as it was released yesterday in America. Vin Diesel is set to star, reuinting him with some of his buddies from 'The Fast and the Furious'. The storyline is as follows:
'A charismatic (and tattooed) extreme sports performance artists-of-sorts (he videotapes himself pulling dangerous and sometimes illegal stunts, then sells them on the black market), Xander Cage (Diesel), described by The Hollywood Reporter (6/10/01), as "a James Bond-like hero with the personality of a rock star/chick magnet like Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst", is recruited by a government agent, Gibbons (Samuel L Jackson) to infiltrate a Russian crime ring, Anarchy 99, led by a mysterious figure called Yorgi (Marton Csokas), which plans on unleasing a lethal substance in the rivers of Europe, which sends him racing through a series of adventures...'
Apparently, he has also signed for the sequel to be released in 2004.
The Fast and the Furious 2 will be out in the winter of 2003 and its likely that Michelle Rodriguez and Vin Diesel will return for their respective roles, especially as the death count wasn't particularly high. Here's the plot: Brian O'Conner (Paul Walker), stripped of his badge after the events of the first film, gets a chance to redeem himself by going undercover to infiltrate the world of Miami street racing. Tyrese also plays an undercover agent who works in tangent with Walker's character, and then they also team up with a female undercover agent, to bring down a powerful drug trafficker. Eva Mendes plays that female agent.
Freddy Vs Jason will come out some time in 2003/2004 and will recieve a 15/18 rating. A group of teenagers finds themselves stuck in the middle of a battle between two forces of evil: silent stalker Jason Voorhees (Hodder) and gabby dream master Freddy Krueger (Englund), as the battle wages from Elm Street (the beginning of the film) to a climactic finale fought at Camp Crystal Lake.
Terminator 3 (abbreviated to T-3) will be out in Summer/Autumm 2003. This third film will tell the tale of the first battles between humans and the artificial intellgences of the SkyNet network. John Connor will be the star (now played by Nick Stahl after Furlong was caught with drugs). The advanced android that Schwarzenegger will be going up against will be female this time around. The female cyborg will have several new powers, like being able to disappear, mold into someone else, or even turn into an energy form. The story is set 10 years after T2, as Connor and his cyborg buddy fight off the all-new, all-dangerous T-model. The Terminator (Arnie, that is) switches sides in the film, as the computers take over control of his circuitry. Norwegian actress Kristanna Loken will play T-X (Terminatrix).
Charlie's Angels 2: Halo is to come out in summer of 2003 and get a PG/12 rating. The premise involves a database of the witness protection program, which has been stolen, leading to five of the witnesses on the list being killed and the Angels are called in to find it. One of the witnesses has a 15-year-old son named Max who's a Motocross champion. One of the groups the Angels have to go up against is the "O'Grady clan", an Irish mob. Justin Theroux plays Drew's ex-boyfriend. Robert Patrick has joined the cast as a Navy Seal-turned-FBI agent. Demi Moore plays a "fallen Angel" who left Charlie's agency to become an evil agent.
Batman vs. Superman is set for Autumm 2004 release with a PG/12 rating. The plot involves a situation where the differing philosophical approaches of the caped guardians of Gotham City and Metropolis, long-time allies Batman and Superman, pit them against each other (and that this film does not follow the continuity of either of the previous Batman or Superman movies). There are rumors that the main villains are the Joker and Lex Luthor, but that's not confirmed. Also, Wolfgang Petersen keeps mentioning September 11th a lot and how something horrible happens that sends Batman over the edge. Is it possible that something horrible, a sort of "cataclysm" (hint, hint, comics fans) happens to Gotham City?
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be a CGI movie, but there are rumours of it being shelved altogether. Out of the bowels of sewers radiated by nuclear waste, four turtles mutate into bipedal creatures, trained from their youth by a Ninja-master rat, Splinter, and given the names of great Renaissance painters: Raphael (sais), Michelangelo (nunchaku), Donatello (staff), and Leonardo (katana). Fully trained, they eventually emerge from the sewers into the strange, dangerous world of humans.
Finally, The Matrix: Reloaded will probably see a Summer release over here with a 15/18 rating. Joe Pantoliano (Cypher) will not return, but many other cast members will. Also, the Oracle will not return (or at least the same one from Matrix), as she passed away a while back. We will see Neo as a superhuman figure capable of amazing feats. (as seen in The Matrix near the end; he demonstrated flight, time-control, super-speed, etc.) One thing that is known is that this film will most likely end with a cliffhanger that leads directly to The Matrix Revolutions. As hinted by the end of the first film, you will indeed see Neo in lots of flying scenes. The film takes place six months after the first, after many more people have been "awakened" to the real world. The sequels are not two separate movies, but a really long movie cut in half, that all takes place in a 24-hour span, and that Monica Bellucci plays an evil temptress. This "first half" is spent largerly in the Matrix as Neo learns more about his "superheroic" abilities, including the ability to see the code, etc. of the people and things around him.

Interesting that - bit annoyed the Batman films don't show any continuity, that's what ruined the last couple of sequels (as well as the terrible acting)
