Has anyone played a 16 player deathmatch yet?
I've looked at the official cable (20 quid) and it only connects two boxes.
I don't personally have an Xbox but several of my friends do and I was planning to bring them all together (there should be room in my house for four Xboxs if we stack them! ;-)) and was wondering if anyone had organised a 16 player deathmatch before and could give a few pointers/advice/experiences etc.

Yeah, but when you put in 3 extra pads and the DVD pack and a link cable, it does more or less reach the 300 pound mark.
They don't cost 300 anymore, its 210 for an xbox with Halo on ukxbox.com

Strafex, this is an interesting set-up....
i've done this with a 4 playrer multi, it would be carnage with 16-people.... lower health down to a mnimum, i think it's 50% then put on human weapons, 50 kill limit, and play in Battle Creek.. its bsolutely amazing in 4 player, and in 16.. woah... oh and can i have you're msn please, might be interested in joining if i'm close... :0)

Is that 40 pounds including these ethernet cables as WELL as the hub?

I've wanted this ever since Goldeneye.
Hopefully Nintendo will have something sorted by the time Perfect Dark comes out.

I suppose what I'd do is have Team A (I'm planning on 8 Vs 8 team games) in one room, Team B in another. Two Xbox/TV's per bedroom should fit nicely. Hopefully the cabling will be long enough to go to a neighbouring room.

One friend has an Xbox with four controllers.
Another two have atleast 2 controllers each (maybe more now - I last checked about 3 months ago). I don't know any other Xbox owners at the moment but one is sure to pop up sooner or later.

These vehicles were designed for the sort of battles you just can't do properly with 4 players.

Now I need to find a way of getting a fourth TV (a 14 inch might suffice - but only as a last resort), and a fourth Xbox owner, and try to persuade my friends to stock up on pads.
And 16 players ofcourse - as good as Halo is, I'd need people who had atleast had experience in Quake/Turok style FPS games before. The nature of the game's controls means that newbies will barely be able to control it properly without a fair bit of practice.

Your right about the splitscreen, my friend has surround sound and when we play 4 player it doesn't work right. 4 14" TVs would do the job, it doesn't matter.

Only 2, meaning 8 player is only possible with an Xbox Link cable.
If you want a 16 player game, you need some *kit*, an ethernet hub and 4 ethernet cables, one per Xbox. Don't panic, the set up is simple, shove the cables into each xbox them link them all up to the Hub.
I saw a box that had everything you need for System link play in GAME(basicly everything mentioned above). It cost £40 i think, if thats split between you and your mates it would be a couple of quid each, no bother.

No i have'nt tried the 16 player deathmatch yet, Had a 4 player one quite a few times. If you have broadband and a PC you can play online if you wanted.
16 player deathmatches sound really fun, but you got to have a big enough room(s) to cater for everyone ;)
