Well,Snake Eyes,There is an easy way to get more than 9,999 damage,and a hard way.The easy easy way is to get the Legendary Weapons and upgrade it to full strength.Every Legendary Weapon will have "Break Damage Limit" and "Triple Overdrive" and other special abilities like "1 MP Cost","Counter Attack" etc..But if you don't know how to get them or how to upgrade them,just visit UKcheats.com and go on Final Fantasy X.The hard way is to capture 5 creatures of every type at ALL locations.After you've done that,talk with the monster arena guy and he'll give you 99 Dark Matter.You can use them to customise the weapon of your choice to have "Break Damage Limit" or customuse 1 of your sheilds to have "Ribbon" which makes you almost imune to any status aliments(Not Magic effects like zombie and curse).

Everything from the guides has already been typed out below, so there is nothing I can add, other than what I said before - use your own Yojimbo. If you answered the question correctly when you first met, paid him lots to start with, have never had his dog do an attack and have never paid him 0 gil during a fight, then he`ll be quite friendly with you. This means a Zanmato is easy to get, and you should be able to win all five Dark Yojimbo battles.
I answered the question wrong, bartered for ages, have had the dog attack, have paid him 0 gil on occasion, and he hates me. However, he still won the first few rounds using Zanmato so I`m sure a well trained version could do all 5 no problem.

Good trick, if Wakka's got mostly max stats is use his Attack Reels. You can get up to 12 hits of 99,999 damage, after practice you can do this almost every time.
And then, if you've got time, use Entrust and give him another Overdrive.
Repeat until much-o butt-o has been kicked-o.
