Hey everybody, this is really bugging me lately as a Ps2 owner and a game fan!
I am seeing too much of this now, i noticed it first on Game Network, people who txt in saying the Ps2 is bad and old and the developers only do games for it because it is old and more people own it!
wrong, wrong, WRONG!
I would like to start on the first statement that i mentioned, it is old! 2 years old, the graphics are still as good, the only thing i notice bewteen my GC and Ps2 is the fact tha the GC loads faster and has 4 controler ports, the graphics are the same, and X-box and GC saw what Sony did, marvelled at it and improved, but i can guarantee that the Ps3 will be fast loading too! Then Nintendo may bring out a newer console that loads faster a year or two after, it is just in those years new technology is formed and people can not see the fact that when the Ps2 was new the broke the limits graphically, the loading was fairly fats and even now i consider it not to be slow, do any of you? This is very annoying, everything gets old, it is not a reason to hate it, people happen to like retro games but the Ps2 is not retro gaming, it is new, the games still astound people and you sit back in your chair with a drink in your left hand, the controller in the other thinking, how do they do that, it is amazing!
So the Ps2 is not bad and old, it is a high quality, great iece of technology that will be considered so for years to come!
Now onto the next point in which the developers make games as pepole own it! First, let me tell you about the whole thing people said, they said the GC only has fewer games as the developers choose to make games for sony as the console was out first and people boguht that console, now as millions own a Ps2 it is logical to put games out for the Ps2, again this is wrong, but truth is held in there somewhere. it is logical to make games as more people own it, so they make more money, but also Sony has high quality games that are multi format, the GC has millions of owners in Japan and has many new original games coming out, as it is a good console and the different console can do different things, so companies choose either the one they have deals with, the one the game suits most or the put the game out on them all! The Ps2 will still have new games coming out in a years time, that the GC or X-box will never see, and they will be just as good!
I am sorry but this really annoyed me and i think you will all agree it is wrong to say that about one of the greatest consoles ever, i am not putting the GC or X-box down as i own a GC and am very happy with the list of games coming out, the X-box is not my cup of tea but everyone likes differnt things, i am a fan of RPG's and multiplayers so i opted for the consoles which suit me most!

I agree with Cookie monster to a certain extent, I owned a PS2 and then sold it for an Xbox.
MGS2 - Over-hyped game that is coming to the Xbox. I don't think anyone anticipated this game as much as I did, I researched this game for 3 solid years and I had the game on pre-order for just over 1 year! When the game arrived I thought that it couldn't be beaten, the first level was a breath-taker, but what went wrong? Hopefully it will all be sorted for when Substance is released and it gives you the option to play the game as Snake!
GTA3 - Agreed! I played this game solid for 3 months and although I would probably never play this game again due to draining the life out of it I would still rate it in my top 10 games of all time! Great game that when released on the Xbox (hopefully in 2004 after Sonys licence runs out) I will buy!
GT3 - Not the best racing game ever in my opinion. Bored me to death after the first 2 days of play, played this game for a very long time until I eventually got so bored of it that I decided it was time to sell my PS2 with my games collection. I didn't sell becuase this game didn't interest me I just wanted something new! I have just got PGR for the Xbox this morning and it is a lot more fun to play than GT3!
FFX - Never played but I am getting Skies of Arcadia for the Dreamcast soon and that game blows FF out of the window in terms on gam play!
Jak And Daxter - Wrong, Mario 64 set the standard of platforming, Jak and Daxter was nothing special and in my opinion was far too easy.

I agree with Cookie monster to a certain extent, I owned a PS2 and then sold it for an Xbox.
MGS2 - Over-hyped game that is coming to the Xbox. I don't think anyone anticipated this game as much as I did, I researched this game for 3 solid years and I had the game on pre-order for just over 1 year! Mistaken. All the games to date have shared certain characters. If you'd played more than just 7 8 9 and 10, you might know something about it.
More so, many aspects of the game are carried on from one game to the next, most notably the combat system and leveling system.
In fact, the only thing that REALLY changes from game to game is the plot and the main characters.

Mistaken. All the games to date have shared certain characters. If you'd played more than just 7 8 9 and 10, you might know something about it.

For consoles perhaps, but it was hardly revolutionary technology was it? decent spec PCs of the time could easilly out-perform it graphics wise, and still can for any console on the market. Consoles may once have led the industry for graphical quality, but not anymore. That prize goes to PCs.

Clearly no market research was made before writing this post. The market is driven by dollar value, not cultish fanatacism. There is more than "just a little" truth in the idea that PS2 has more developers due to the larger player base. If you look at Nintendo's financial accounts, I think you will more than likely see some "incentives" going out to third parties to encourage more games on their format. Is this a bad thing? No. At the end of the day, all the companies are happy. But make no mistake that market share is top priority for everyone.

Greatest consoles ever? I think not my friend. Think of the likes of the NES or SNES, which were around when the gaming market was slightly smaller, and were certainly more popular than the PS2 when looked at proportionally. It's "great" because it's got a better specification. In a historical perspective, it's just the lead console of it's time, which isn't a very long span at all.

How exactly can you guarantee that? Sony might go for glorious looks and technical capacity ahead of loading speed. Until it's out (and it won't be for a few years yet) you cannot comment on it.

Hate to burst your bubble mate... but if you actually played FF games, you'd realise that each game in the series is completely detached from the last, it doesn't follow on at all.
I don't know about you but to me, Jak and Daxter looks just like a Banjo Kazooie rip-off with a main character who resembles Link (from Zelda) in certain ways....
And as for GTA 3, GT 3 and Final Fantasy, those are just new ends of a string of never-ending series'....

You are one of those people, it was an opinion, not a war as i said i like every console out, but i can only afford two and chose the ones best suited for me, sorry if it came over as a console war!
