Can't say where I got this from. The source is genuine though and I can pretty much say it is true.

XBox are going to release a much smaller XBox within the next 18 months (probably in Europe as well). With a small physical appearance and probably a larger hard drive (40GB has been named) Microsoft do hope people will prefer the smaller version.

The capabilities aren't changing, but this is another piece of information that tells me Microsoft really have talked a lot of crap about their original Box, saying that people didn't look at the size and the XBox's capabilities would sell it itself. Shame they have already lost 2.5billion dollars on the machine (which for ANY company is a huge loss). Is investing more money into a smaller XBox for the Japanese and European market worth it?

I know that the XBox is capable of great things. Then again. Only one game has proved that so far. *runs about screaming*

Size does matter. Apparently.

Polls in many newspapers made out that it was offensive (old people I guess).

It was offensive, apparently. I thought it was genius.

Another console though (exactly the same) hitting the shelves. What would the gaming public think. Most of the gamers who come into the shop and buy a console always ask, 'whats the expected lifespan?' or a similar question.

Ut oh...

I can see another 60million on advertisments. That will probably get banned again. Every console they sell at the moment Microsoft lose about fifty quid. Hoping to make it back in software by 2005-2006. Surely if they are stopping the original XBox from production its already deemed a failure?

Just a thought.

Yeah but if they dont buck up their ideas and get their @rses in gear soon they are going to lose even more money and look like even bigger fools. You cant solve a problem by plugging the hole with dollar bills. I guess Gates will learn that soon enough.

People say that can't be a lot of money for Microsoft. Fact is. It really is a huge sum. They can't give up as it would seriously deflate the size of some of the monkeys heads that work there.
