I think there will never be "the best game ever" because most people have diffrent tastes to others meaning to them one game will be good and the other person may hate that type of game.
Any how if you mean what my fave fgame is id have to say its:
1. Zelda - best game ever but once completed it does get boring.
2. Perfect dark - Im a massive fan of FPS anf this is the best (ok it can be arguable)
3. Final Fantasy 8 - one of the reasons i brought a PS1, it has great depth and just pulls me in so easily. It was this or FF7 as both were great games but this is my fave.

FF7 was also greatfun away back those 5 years ago.
