Why are so few females interested in computer games? gaming seems to appeal to males on a whole lot of different levels (competitiveness, an interest in technology/gadgets, etc.) but is the male-dominance in gaming pushed by the gaming industry? Do females enjoy the same things about gaming as blokes do?

Is the gaming industry sexist?

Hmmmmm

Well, I'd say it's partly true.

I'm not one to talk though, I'm no RPG fan. I just wondered why you thought that.

Maybe because I always liked RPGs loads more than my Male friends, and because they tend to be quite pretty graphically, and have themes involving romance and friendship.

Is this a widespread opinion?

I'm a girl that likes games, I think I'm pretty unusuall in that though. I don't understand why the rest of my sex don't see what I do. I have managed to convert three of my female friends, who have now bought PSones, but they like to play colourful games that I tend to think are childish such as rayman, and bust-a-move, so I've only really dome a half job:)

I always thought that RPGs were aimed more at Girls than boys, but I don't think that this is a widespread opinion.

I think I'm just gonna habe to face the fact that I am the odd one out.

I just think that gaming has become a more 'male' thing to do over time and so many females see it as a male dominated past time which they don't want to do.

Thing is, I saw this programme the other night about gaming and it focused on Japan mainly. I saw more girls playing games then boys, I think out there it's pretty balanced, they've all grown up playing them etc as said above.
