Now, every two hours, Freeserve decides to kick me off of the internet so I have got to log on again!

Does anybody know a way of monkeying around wih the connection so that I can turn the limit off?

It happens dead on the 2 hour mark so I know they've told my PC to do it, I want to turn it off!

Any ideas?

Cool, only just noticed that, it's Telewest BlueYonder that costs £33 p/month, unless you have other services with them (e.g. tv/telephone) then it costs £25 p/month

You need to get the full cable package to get 128k as it's only available with NTL etc...

We've got Sky and were not changing...

We can't afford ADSL either...

Looks like I'm stuck with Freeserve now!

hur hur, i've still got mine! 56k is more than enough for you Gabbo, your modem actually seems quite fast, you should try using BlueYonder on a 56k modem :/ thats why my dad moved to broadband.

phi11ip, i'd recommend getting ASDL or broadband if you can, it's definatly worth it if your getting annoyed about getting cut off, you can get 128k and 256k versions too which are cheaper.

They know that they disconnect you every 2 hours. If you try and get round it, or even tell your computer to redial automatically if the connection is dropped (and then leave it doing that) they accuse you of bandwidth hogging. If freeserve is anything like BT Anytime you'll get two warnings and then they'll cut you off, and don't forget according to BT the internet is like an inflatable ball that you have to stop playing with after ten minutes, not with BT, they'll pop the ball after 2 hours because they're just so great.

That said, BT did induce us into getting broadband by giving us free activation and the first 3 months free for switching away from Anytime. Which was very nice of them all things considered.

There's no way you can stop the server from putting the phone on the hook...

It isnt your PC that's disconnecting, they're disconnecting at their end. APPARENTLY there are things to get round it, but its against the T&C, so I really wouldnt advise trying any.

Over the years I've become very jaded after many bad experiences with customer services, you have bucked the trend. Polite and efficient from the Freeola team, well done to all involved.
Second to none...
So far the services you provide are second to none. Keep up the good work.
