First of all I'll deal with cosmetics. Everyone sees the GameCube's outer shell before they plug it in as it's printed all over the box and you can't exactly plug it in without finding the ports for all the cables on the GameCube itself. First of all it's purple! And why's it got a handle on it? For portability? You're not going to carry that two and a half miles to your friend's house in public are you? Mind you, anyone seeing it is more likely to laugh than attempt to steal it off you! It's so small! Why isn't it big and wide for all those massive processor chips and graphics cards?
What about the fact it doesn't play DVDs. I mean, you have to get an import Gamecube from Japan to play DVDs on! Ofcourse Nintendo hate Europe, why else would they leave out a DVD player? Sure, that's why the console is cheaper, but that's what gamers want nowadays! They want to be able to play their DVDs and CDs on their consoles! They don't want any of this videogame nonsense! They prefer to watch movies and listen to music than actually interact with their consoles! Why do you think Metal Gear Solid 2 sold so well?
Now lets get to the controllers. Who can ever play a GameCube with the controllers so small? They're terrible! I'm glad I've got an X-box as they've got much better controllers. The controllers fit the hands perfectly and one of my mates has an X-box and prefers the controllers too! Atleast their buttons are proper shapes and the controller isn't tiny!
What about the graphics? I mean, they're terrible! I mean, my Playstation One's display was perfect in my 1978 Colour TV, so why not my GameCube? I mean, you can't even plug it into the aerial socket! What's up with that? The GameCube promised us more realistic graphics yet we are inundated with games like Sonic and Luigi's Mansion! What happened to the super-realistic film-quality games that we were promised?
Then we have the games! What utter crap! Nintendo have only released one or two exclusives like Luigi's Mansion and Pikmin and they only last you an hour and a half before you've completed them! What were Nintendo thinking releasing such short games like this? Star Wars looks good but it's too difficult to blow up the death star at the start so it's rubbish!
I mean, why buy the GameCube, it's rubbish as all the above OFFICIAL facts prove! You're stupid if you like that kiddies console and you should be playing the X-box cos it IS THE BEST! It's official because it's more powerful!
There we go! I've proved it to myself! I too can be an X-box fanboy if I want to. I can post utter crap against a decent console, make a load of lies, and lower myself to the standards of a semi-intelligent twelve-year-old trying to promote ones status on the forums by acting all tough and trying to make out that everyone else is wrong. To prove that the one braincell in my head hasn't gone, here's what it should say:
I've played many a console in the past, and quite frankly I've enjoyed pretty much all of them. Granted, some more than others, but still, I'm happy to say that my gaming life so far has had more ups than downs. It could just be because the GameCube is Nintendo's latest machine, or it could be that the GameCube has regained that 'spark' Nintendo's machine had in the days of the SNES and lost with the N64. Whatever it is, I believe the GameCube to be the best games machine I have ever played. Here's why:
First of all we have looks. Sure, they're not to everyone's tastes, but they're original! Everything visible is pretty much symmetrical and the sections for ports and cables are well hidden (except the obvious Controller and Memory Card ports). With a choice of two colours and an almost certainty that more will be released throughout the console's life, the GameCube will certainly match and colour schemes (if you're that fussy). The handle isn't necessarily there for you to carry it to a friend's house or anything, but to make you feel more confident when transporting it and making it less likely you'll drop it. Chances are, you'll be transporting it from one room in the home to another more than carrying it out on the streets - and if you are carrying it in public, it is reccomended that you keep it hidden in a rucksack or something so that no one knows you're carrying something worth knicking and selling on the black market.
Why doesn't the GameCube play DVDs? There's a simple and logical explanation to answer that. The GameCube doesn't play DVD movies or audio CDs because it is a videogames console. It isn't a super-whammy-mega-entertainment device. It isn't a hi-fi or home-cinema system. It is, or does, exactly what it says on the tin. It plays games. Sure, you can pay a little extra, buy a power convertor and buy the Japanese 'Q' console from Panasonic which does play more than just games, but is it worth it in the long run? After all, you're bound to have a CD player somewhere in the house in this day and age, and chances are, if you haven't already, you're likely to have a DVD player sometime soon.
If we take a look at the controllers - I can tell you now that they're not perfect. My main concern is with the small, but nice and rough (for extra grip) D-pad. Shigeru Miyamoto wanted to make it slightly bigger last minute, but production was already beginning for the Japanese launch so to change it at that stage would have been costly. I rarely use the D-pad anyway. I prefer to use it for menus in games, but other than that, the only time I've used a D-pad on the GameCube is for taunting on Super Smash Bros Melee or for the odd special 'web' move on Spiderman. It comes to something when someone with large hands like me or someone with long fingers such as my brother, prefers a controller that's supposed to be smaller than all the others on the market. In reality, the GameCube controller isn't actually significantly smaller than any other. The only controllers with a major difference in size are the X-box and the Nintendo 64 controllers. I personally don't like the X-box controller, but I'm sure there are some third-party controllers I'd prefer to use out there if I decided to purchase an X-box, and, although I like the Nintendo 64's controller, it's not the best ever and feels very thin.
And now we come to the graphics. They're not picture perfect - that's a fact. The graphics on the X-box and Playstation 2 are not picture perfect either. It is possible for photo-quality FMV sequences - as it has been possible on lesser powerful PCs in the past, but for ingame graphics, you wont get them as realistic as a TV program or film until atleast the next generation of consoles. Without comparing with the X-box and Playstation 2, whose graphics capabilities aren't that different, the GameCube's graphics are nice, sharp and pretty. They're pleasing to they eye and don't look blocky. Sure, if SEGA don't update the graphics of Skies of Arcadia, then the graphics may look blocky on that, but that game was designed for the Dreamcast (and that game is brilliant anyway).
The games themselves are very nice indeed. Sure, some are shorter than others, and some are prettier than others, but all in all, I've enjoyed my console one hell of a lot over the two months I've had it. After all, gaming is about having fun and that's what I've had with games such as SEGA's Super Monkey Ball and Nintendo's Super Smash Bros Melee. If I wanted more 'adult' games I would have chosen to buy Tony Hawks Pro Skater 3 and maybe Agent Under Fire. I'm already getting Turok Evolution which is set to be the first FPS bestseller on the GameCube, and I'll most likely get Metroid Prime when it's eventually released. Even so, with the games out at the moment, I've got more than some people would have in a console's lifetime, and I've enjoyed playing each one and continue to do so.
See, I haven't lost it. I know that some people are bound to disagree with some of my points, and I know that not everyones tastes are the same, which is why the majority of the comments I meant (the lower half if you hadn't already guessed) aren't in comparison to other consoles such as the X-box and Playstation 2. If you want the GameCube and haven't already, get one. If you hate the GameCube and have come here hoping to have my support for your fanboy comments, tough flaming luck cos this topic is to show you how much your fanboy comments mean to us. Anyone can make up stuff about a console in the style of a fanboy and claim it to be fact - it just makes me laugh that I used to be like that, and I stupidly believed comments like that too! So whether you're a GameCube, X-box or Playstation 2 fan - or whether you like to play on more than one of those systems, happy gaming.

Sadly, the furthest fanboys will venture is FOG Chat, but seeing as I hadn't generalised the topic and had aimed it at the GameCube, I thought it best to post it in this forum.
You never know, one fanboy might brave a trip to his forum to be laughed to death by us kiddies :)

I was just proving that I too could be like a fanboy if I put my mind to it. Infact it was quite easy to write something like that! Although I have had practise in the past when I was like that over two years ago on here :)
There's no doubt about it, I love the GameCube!

WHOOP! WHOOP! WHOOP! WHOOP! WHOOP! WHOOP! WHOOP! WHOOP! WHOOP! WHOOP! WHOOP! WHOOP! WHOOP! WHOOP! WHOOP! WHOOP! WHOOP! WHOOP! WHOOP! WHOOP!

<*ahem*> Sorry, just this was my favourite Dreamcast game and I can't wait for it's UK GameCube release :)
The DVD player on XBOX and PS2 is one of the reasons I HAVEN'T bought eithre of them, as it just seems that I'm paying for things I already own...
Well now I don't know what to think!

Lol!
Anyway... *points finger at Edgy* you used to spam. Nah nah! ;-)
Anyway, nice post, maybe it'll make some fanboys see the light... though they're unlikely to come into the Ninty forum anyway. Our conversations are far too 'kiddie' (and by 'kiddie' I mean intelligent...) for them to comprehend...
:D
It doesn't even taste good with cheese gravy.
