This has always amazed me. Why don't Sony make a portable handheld console like the GBA? Sony could get away from cartridges, and even use their own MiniDisc media for holding the games. If nothing else, it would offer some competition to Nintendo.

Erm.... all minidiscs can record MP3s... I got a MiniDisc last Xmas... it can record MP3s from the PC to it (as long as I have the right cable... which I don't...) or you just plug a cable into the headphone socket of your PC, play the MP3 and put the other end of the cable into the input socket on the MD and record...

Dunno if they can hold games though... dunno if they can hold data at all, I'm sure someone on here will know.

I thought MiniDisc was digital?
I don't see why a MiniDisc cant store other types of data, like games. CD's store music or games.
How much does a MiniDisc hold (in terms of Mb's) compared with a GBA cart?

Minidiscs record in analogue much like the ZX Spectrum tapes did. So it is possible to record games to minidisc, just chances are you wont get them as well made as normal disc or cartridge games because of the limitations.

It isnt possible to hold a game on a MiniDisc because
1: of the size.
2.Mini Disc can onlt transfer audio to something not video+music.

Heh, keep on getting that mother to play Mario games... see if she can get anywhere on Mazza 64 or Sunshine...

(latest research shows that 9/10 parents crack when the young gamer introduces them to the concept of playing a game in three dimensions)

Yep, my original copy still spends most of its time in my GB Pocket, because It just doesn't have the same feel in colour on the gba (and Im lazy). Everything since has just made the game too complecated. That was the genius of Tetris - it was easy - so easy in fact my mum spent hours on it whilst I was at school....

(this is the same mother who completed Mario on GB before my, whilst renouncing video games as a waste of time. How I have changed her in the last twelve years...)

Glad to see your in the right decade ;D

1981 was the year Nintendo decided to go into the videogames business with Shigeru Miyamoto's Donkey Kong.
