Every day at least 10 new topics are on about how good PS2`s are.
They MAY have sold more they MAY have more games but both can be explained.
They have sold more because they have been out longer and also because it was out first ppl brought it because at the time it was the only console that was 128bit. (ok dreamcast was out but due to dire sales of saturn no one trusted it)
It also has more games because when developers make games they will release it on a PS2 to be avalible to a huge gaming community (which has been disscused in great detail, no sorry to much detail.)
but now more and more ps2 owners are going about saying how good it is instead of playing it. Why? well thats what i want to find out.
first of all forget the fact it plays DVDs because this forum is for games and also it isnt like film companies are making their DVDs to be played on a PS2 in fact they dont care what they are played on.
So its down to the games.
First i admit when it first came out the games looked good but prehaps it was because i hadnt seen such good graphics on a console before and was just relying on the graphics too much. then there was a spell when genraly 1 good game came out with about 9 bad ones so it was in a 1 to 10 chance of getting a good game. then for some reason a load of good games came out for it at once and i thought ahh its started the big games come out to play but once again they soon dryed out and it was back to bad ones.
so i look ahead in the gaming sceduals and i (personaly) only see a few games which i would actually buy but then some of them are multi-format.
So al in all in the next year or so i only see about 15 good games will be out on the ps2 maybe 10 if u dont count the multi format ones.
I know we all have our own personal opinons and some of you may like a lot of the games on it.
so here is a servay i did with freinds on each console
PS2
games out at the moment - around 250
games predicted to be out at end of 2003 - 475
number of games we would buy (if we had the money) - 23 (including soon to be released ones)
Xbox
games out at the moment - 200 (before christmas)
games in the pipe line - 300 (total 500)
amount of games we would buy (if we had the console) - 5(including soon to be released ones)
GC
games out at the moment - 100
games to be realeased - no idea but from the games we have heard about Mario, zelda and metriod prime to name a few it looks good
games we would get - 36 (including soon to be released ones)
The fact is no one is intrested in how many units its sold (i never noticed a diffence in gameplay from when i brought my GC to now)
and nor does anyone care how many games it has (although if plans go ahead Xbox will have more soon) because people wont buy rubbish games (i dont hear anyone talking about how good off road : wide open is) so it may aswell not be released.
And before any one comes up saying well if GC is so good why arnt u playing urs. its because my mates are playing on it.
so PS2 owners go get playing ur sooooo amazing PS2`s or i suppose you could try telling me games, which are exclusive to PS2, that match up to the gameplay of games such as:
star wars rouge leader
luigis mansion
super smash bros melee
just to name a few.
also you may use ones due to be released but if you do ill start showing you the games due to be released on GC.

The console wars topics are good if everyone plays fair. However, when fanboys take part and are unwilling to listen to anyone else without fighting back, it ruins it. I can single it out to 3 users and I'm sure everyone knows who I mean. And I agree. The amount of games on the PS2 is their main argument. 2nd being the DVD coy carp. DVD is irrelevant to most people and the PS2 console can play PSone games, too. In my opinion, the PS2 cheats. On the launch date, it had hundreds of titles behind it. The Psone titles.

Nicely written. I think that a lot of PS2 fanboys are looking for reasons why they should keep hold of the console they shelled out £300 for a couple of years back, and are clogging up the forums.
Personally, I see the GC as the one with the brightest future, although obviously with such a large player base, the PS2 will inevitably do well for it's lifespan now. The X-Box I think will survive, but with more of a cult following than an enormous one.

I agree with you. I'm getting very frustrated at the console war topics now, too. I nearly puched my monitor. Well, maybe not, but it sounded relevant.
As for that missing number, Nintendo's target for Christmas was to have 130 games available. They're well on track so far if they have 100 games already released. =oD
