Ok...

I was told this by my dad who was talking to an owner of an internet cafe in Southend...

Basically, there are a group of people (14 to 18 year olds) there who call themselves 'The Kings' and they really are good at games. They take part in LAN parties and win nearly every time.

They have recently been given a £2 million deal with a certain software company to tour the world and promote this company's games...

This sounds rather good, but I can't find anything about this on the internet!

Anybody know about it?

(And no 'Yes, that's me and my mates' comments please!)

Already has, game magazine writers have to play games..they get paid for it = professional gamer.

Damn right they are..then again, I've got the video of Heaton owning their entire team with a single AK clip...shame NiP disbanded really, heh.

Search on clanbase for 4k, www.clanbase.com, has their squads for each game they play. Their website has nothing but match results on at the moment, but you can see from those the skill they pla ywith.

Hey, I work in a LAN arena in Hull. These guys are pretty famous if you're involved in the thing. I have a video on my PC showing them playing Quake III Arena. They are extremely good, so I'm not surprised they've been offered this deal. Let me see if I can find the names they use so you can look it up.

Hm...what game did they play? Only kings that immediately come to mind are 4K, fit the bill pretty well, some of whom became Infinity E-sports..sold out to sponsorship, heh. They're amongst the best at most fps games you can throw at them, and regularly appear at i-series to own the rest of us..

Don't think they play cs any more, since the formation of I-ES, who are easily one of the highest ranked clans in the world...and also show up at LANs, heh. Ghosties gave them a good run at i10, but NiP have disbanded now too, so they are getting even less competition, heh..probably the best UK clan I can think of though.

The whole pro gamer thing is going to take off one of these days, we already have tournaments offering $50,000 1st prizes. I put it in dollars because thats what it was in the Age Of Conquerors tournament last year which you didn't even need to turn up in person to play - you played at yer desk! sweet.

Anyway, this sounds a bit dodgy, I'm sure I've had heard it on newsround if it was true £2 mil is a big chunk o' change, not many small companies can afford such a sponsership so it must be someone big.....
