Personally, I reckon the style of the movie really stinks. The characters just don't do it for me. They're so obviously trying to sell this sense of cool, and it's not going down well with me.
In the latest Empire magazine there are some piccies. The one with loads of agents makes me shake my head. Man, do those guys ever look sucky. They don't look menacing, or bad at all, just like complete geeks.
Then you got these guys with white dreadlocks, and I'm looking at them and thinking "What? That looks stupid".
But then again, they all wear sunglasses so they *must* be cool.
So yeah, ignore me, what do I know anyway?

Well actually it got voted 14th best film of all time because most people who vote for films in polls rely on recent experience and haven't even seen a whole host of films that are vastly better than what they have seen. The only film polls that are slightly reliable are those made by critics, not because they're film buffs, but because they watch thousands of films and so can make an informed judgement.
They do not rate the Matrix the 14th best film of all time with good reason. Because it's not.
The Matrix is a good film, even a defining moment in cinema for its effects, but there are many films that have been better.
If it hadn't been popular, it wouldn't have nudged in the cool black leather trenchcoat with boots and matching shades look, but instead would have become a cult classic.
Personally, I don't watch films for their fashion content, and the Matrix, for all it's retro-gay-S&M fashion looks is no exception. I thought it was a great movie, and look forward to the sequels eagerly, although I know that the ground-breaking shock value is lost and the films are likely to be no better than above average well-casted action movies. I will still enjoy them.
It can just spoil it for when it does actually come out. I just let myself do the thinking while actually watching it...
Think less, play more...
Or somthin like that...
"My name is Neo."
"Nonsense, it's EDWARD!"
"Gordon's Alive!"
Swords are cool too. I missed that picture, I'll give that one it's credit.
Oh, and 'drunken boxing' was cool too.

Even more smug than usual?
Is that legal?
