GT3 uses 3.43GB of the disc space. But if you remember with the cartridge CD malarkey, even a game such as Resident Evil 2 could fit onto 512Mb cartridge i.e. 64MB. So if Nintendo are able to use better compression techniques (although I don't know how) with the Gamecube, then it will be possible to shove a game like GT3 onto the GC disc.

Before I unlocked anyone I was always either Link or Samus. I like The swords skills of link but Sometimes you need someone who will fire stuff a lot too, which Link does, but Samus is good too.

Now I am always Marth, Roy or Young Link (he has fire arrows!).

True, u can draw only what is seen of the object. But what about weather effects, career/story modes with multiple routes + endings, face expressions, smooth animation, etc. I think it will be a close call if Driver 3 goes on to a single GC disc. Perhaps Nintendo may have higher compression rates so the data fits into a smaller space.

Lets be honest about this 1.5gig today is nothing in terms of compacity and a game like Gran Turismo 3 with its hyper realism uses ever bit of a 4.5gig dvd this is the problem for GC how can it compete with its non standard disc, it cd verses cartridges all over again.

Yeah, but what I mean is that 1.5 GB should be more than enough to store game data for a game such as Driver 3, unless the developers choose to use too much material than is necessary, for example (at its most basic stage), a cube when only two faces of the cube will bw shown.

Re: True, but unless the game contains a hell of a lot of dialogue, music and/or 3D graphics of FFX proportions, then I'll doubt it'll be cut down. Not in any way that will affect the game significantly, at least.

Don't we want games that look good with top graphics, music, and dialogue? I want games to be more emersive, and that means greater detail, not less.

True, but unless the game contains a hell of a lot of dialogue, music and/or 3D graphics of FFX proportions, then I'll doubt it'll be cut down. Not in any way that wil affect the game significantly, at least.

Either way, I can get any of the two versions (PS2 or GC).

I've been using Link for most of my battles until lately, where I've found Samus to be rather good. Actually, I reckon she's the best player there.

She offers the best variety of moves in the game, and is really quick as well. Although I still can't complete the 100 Man Melee with her.

As a talking point (which would probably be better suited in the Nintendo forum), what's the greatest distance you've thrown the punchbag in the Stadium mode? And which character did you use?

I'm not announcing mine, at the risk of shamefully disgracing myself amongst the "hardcore" Ninty fans. But I can say that I used the Ice Climbers though...
