in a wee while this will be the best ........... toca race driver is coming! (probably be ps2s best game)
soldier of fortune was quite good too i thought and colin mcrae 3 is nearly here!
I`m a big fan of Fur Fighters, and Crazy Taxi is good fun too. Acclaim brought these across to PS2 for us, but apart from that, haven`t done all that much to inspire me. I prefer Wipeout Fusion to Extreme G3.
> ACTIVISION
They got me totally addicted to Tony Hawks 3, which I never thought possible - before hand I had no idea a skate boarding game could be fun. They`ve also provided a few nice Star Wars games. Many will disagree with me saying Super Bombad Racing is fun, but Starfighter, and its sequel are certainly highly rated by many.
> BAM!
World Rally Championship is excellent. I recently got it in platinum, and can`t believe what I`d been missing! PSM2 still rate it as the best rally game on PS2, and I can see why... but thats all I know about them.
> CAPCOM
They left us... they left us.... Well, partly. Its good that we still have Devil May Cry - my favourite of their game branches, but losing Res Evil for a while has stung many Sony fans. Also, the PAL conversions haven`t always been top notch. However, they do have a strong line up for the future with Auto Modellista and DMC2.
> CODEMASTERS
I loved Micro Machines V3 on PSone, but so far on PS2, only one game has impressed me. That was MTV Music Generator over a year ago. A little tricky at first, but it got really good once you knew what each button did - even though I still can`t make a decent song :D
> EIDOS
Herdy Gerdy... they found some originality, but now its back to the Tomb Raider stuff. Well, its nice to have both the new and the familiar. However, their main selling point in my view is TimeSplitters, and soon TimeSpitters 2 as well. The original was a fantastic multiplayer game - but you don`t wanna hear me do the TimeSplitters speech all over again...
> EA
EA is often translated to mean "sequel" in many other languages, but thanks to EA Big, they are one of my preferred publishers. SSX made a huge impression on me, and though I didn`t do it in real life, I did name myself after it here.
> INFOGRAMES
Been a little quiet really... buying smaller companies here and there, but so far not producing anything I consider to be a major title, however, they made some great games on PSone, so they are worth waiting for.
> KONAMI
What was that game called again? The one with the snakey bloke? Oh yeh, I remember. Its not just that though... Shadow of Memories and Zone of the Enders also made a big impression on me, putting this developer/publisher in with a shot of being my favourite.
> KOEI
The only one I remember really is Kessen. I don`t think I`ve come across any others. Kessen though is a reasonable game, though it doesn`t have the graphics to match many other top games.
> SCEE (includes all divisions eg. Polyphony)
As this includes all its parts, its got a lot going for it. There are a lot of fantastic games, with Gran Turismo 3 leading the way. Others to remember are Jak and Daxter with Naughty Dog, Dropship from CDS, Wipeout Fusion from Studio Liverpool and more.
> SQUARESOFT
A scrolling beat `em up was a very bad start for Squaresoft, but they soon "bounced" back from that one. This company is possibly my favourite simply because of one game, a game I`m playing now, and have been playing for the last two months, Final Fantasy 10. I`m going through for a second time now, and decided to try out blitzball for the first time - yet another game within a game to try out!
> TAKE2
(ROCKSTAR)
In the early days of PS2, they bravely came out with Midnight Club and Smugglers Run, which were fine as launch titles... but a year later, something a little more special was needed. Hey, why not release GTA3 and let it become PS2's best selling game? Good plan!
> THQ
You can blow up walls and make your own caves! What more da ya need? Thanks to Red Faction, this is a developer I will be keeping an eye on... though it hasn`t yet done enough to sway my decision its way.
WINNER:
Despite the fact Squaresoft have only made the one game on PS2 so far that I consider brilliant, as opposed to the large selections from Konami, Sony and Capcom, the fact that Final Fantasy is so fresh in my mind still, and hugely playable after two months means that Squaresoft gets it.
1) Squaresoft
2) Sony
3) Konami
4) Capcom

i never saw the ps2 bit. any way, then it would be scee, just for gran turismo
