I have a cable modem, Ntl one which is 512k/sec.
So anyone know what settings I should have etc that will lower my ping when I am playing games on-line.

Hm, better.
As I said, we don't like each other :/
I've tried everything to lower them. I never manage it though.
min - 26ms max - 43ms ave - 32ms
12 packets transmitted, 8 packets received, 33% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max = 297.2/314.9/339.2 ms
Jesus christ, and I'm on a 56k
Do this:
ping vie.intrius.net
--- vie.intrius.net ping statistics ---
12 packets transmitted, 10 packets received, 16% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max = 135.0/144.2/150.2 ms
So I guess those numbers will be roughly the same for the other computer too. I'll check it later.
minimum - 228ms maximum - 426ms average - 304ms
ping hotmail.com
ping www.hotmail.com
ping 64.4.45.7
They will all work.
ping hotmail.com/file.htm
ping hotmail.com:12345
ping 64.4.45.7:67890
They will all screw over. Just run "ping host.com" or "ping 123.245.212.251" (meaning "ip").
OK?
