Does anyone else hate real one player as much as me? Okay it seems to be a necessity these days, buy why does it try to take over your PC at the same time? Does it need to startup when your PC starts up and sit on the tray? Does it need to automatically assign any music or video related files to open with real one, even if if you dont want it to?? Even if you can be bothered to tell it to open the files with a different player, next time you restart they open with real one again! ffs.

Plus I dont think you can run old versions of real player anymore, can you?

No, it doesn't. You can tell it not to when you install it. I think you can tell it not to autostart by right clicking on the system tray icon and selecting something (I'm not sure off hand because I don't have the icon on mine)

It is a pain in the bum, but if you run real player, then go to 'Tools - Preferences' and choose "Media Types" and uncheck all the boxes it'll stop trying to reassign all your preferences. It'd be nicer if it didn't do it in the first place, but a lot of programs do it.

As far as I know you can, so long as you have a copy of them, but as more content is encoded with a newer version more and more stuff will only play on the newer versions of Real Player.

Hi fog, long time no speaky. Yeah my main hate is the fact that even when you tell files to open with windows media or quicktime, next time you restart it goes back to real one... :(

I used to like this player, it's great and it looks very nice, my only problem with it is those stupid messages it pops up every now and then.
I use KaZaA now, much easier, everythings in one place.
You can stop it from starting with Windows.
(start menu > run > msconfig > Startup (tab at top) uncheck []realONE.
When you try to set the audio/video to another player it tells you (e.g.) Quicktime is trying to become to primary player for your system, do you accept these changes?"
click yes and run along.

I think it's a good player, I really like Quicktime 5, eventhough it's not the final version, it runs most things (except for trailers off Mac.com) *snarls*

i'm not sure about the last question but I would have thought you could, realONE is good enough for me,even though I don't use it much, did you pay for yours? I downloaded the trial and it hasn't run out for me :) it does everything I wan it too, I think the only difference is the radio.
