Virtua Tennis is fun, but it isn't exactly a decent game. It's way too simple. You can't win a point with a beautiful passing shot down the line, you have to wait until one player makes a mistake.

What I want is a good tennis game with proper players and things like pressing the button just at the right time to do a sweet pass down the line, giving the other player no chance. Actually being able to end a rally with one shot would be nice, rather than waiting for the other player to get out of position like you have to in Virtua Tennis.

The best known player in Virtua Tennis is Henman and he's a tw@t. Only 8 real players too.

I know you'd have to get the proper license but has anyone even got the proper license?

Once you have the license it can't be hard to put in loads of players. Just give them a mark out of ten for volleying, speed, forehand power, backhand power, smashing, etc.

Also, having the surfaces actually make a difference would be good too so that you'd have to pick the correct player to have the best chance depending on what court surface you're using.

Oh and a proper season thing with all the major tournaments. Wimbledon, US Open, everything.

Just think how bad Virtua Tennis seems compared to that!

Yeah but the World Circuit Mode in Virtua Tennis isn't very long either. Once you're good, you can complete it in a few hours easy. Yet you still come back.

I'm currently working to get all the secret costumes which I didn't get when I bought it. Need 3 more. One I'm close to getting - the other 2 are impossible because I'm not too good at aiming lobs and I'm crap at smashing.

My mate has rented out Smash Court Tennis and he brought it round yesterday and today. I completed the Pro Tournament section within 5 hours. The challenges aren't that easy though. One or two more days and I will finish it fully.

I played that smash Court Tennis demo. It isn't bad. It's more of what I'm looknig for but it's a bit on the clumsy side. You can hit winners far more than in Virtua Tennis which is good, but you can still just press a button when a smash arrives at your feet and you'll have one the rally when in real life that would be it. Even if you hit it, it would likely go well out.

And only 8 players sucks. I might give it a rent. If I like it I may claim it as a GAD considering SR still don't have the 24 Boxset or Lord of the Rings 4 disc box set on their database.

Hmmm... but the Anna Kournikova character looks like Jade out of Big Brother on Smash Court :(

Smash Court Tennis is good but I don't think it's very long in the one player mode. It's a challenge but it wouldn't last a week.

Yeah I heard about that Smash Court Tennis game. Didn't think it looked that good though. But if it has Rafter it must be alright.

Another thing they should put in this ultimate tennis game though is old players. Just imagine John McEnroe running around the court. Oh how I'd laugh. And Borris. And Pat.

I own an Xbox and as yet there aren't any decent Tennis games planned for it so instead I have picked up a second hand dreamcast (or will be on friday) so I can get Virtua Tennis 1+2 it will be your best bet. If not I have read some good reviews about Smash Court tennis on PS2 so I would go with that.
