Games consoles have really come a long way. God i feel old now.
It did have two analogue joypads, though - with two buttons on each; analogue was very much the "new thing" then.
I can only remember two of the games - one was a version of Space Invaders, the other was some game where each player controlled a ship, and you had to drop depth charges on subs that passed below. The player with most hits won. Weren't games lovely and simple then? One stick, two buttons, very simple gameplay.
After that, I never owned a console until PlayStation. Well, I had a Gameboy, and I still have my Game Gear. My parents bought me a Commodore VIC-20 when I was about eight years old; then a C64, then an Amiga. Then I started work and bought myself an A500 Plus. Then there was the CDTV and CD32.
Then I went to buy a Saturn with that game (can't remember the damn name) with people riding on dragon-like creatures. But I walked out with a PlayStation and a copy of Wipeout instead. (I'm sure I've posted this before, but you did ask...)
Yes, Kieran, you're right games have come a *hell* of a long way. Not only do I feel old, but I also think - God help me! - that I'm starting to sound like my parents! Aaaaarrrgghhh!
