Do you mean when you open the file and save it in the 'Save as'??? Just surround the name in speech marks "My_Scripts.php"

or did you mean the 'right-click and rename' things?

Find the folder where the file you want to change is located.
go: View/Edit > folder Option (or something similar) uncheck the box that says: "hide file extensions"

The path changes between differen O/S's but the option 'Folder Options' will be easy to find.

I just tried that, but now, the .php extension makes the computer think it is a paper project for MS Home Publishing 2000. How do I fix this without messing up Home Publishing?

I know how to change extensions, but not without messing up programs which use those extensions

It's not possible for Forums to run on HTML alone, unless you make them draw the table out and upload it to your site.
They either need MySql and php or a Cgi-Bin.
go to http://www.netfirms.com or http://www.freeola.co.uk for a Cgi-Bin both are free, then download the YaBB forums from http://www.yabbforum.com
they're hard to install but it's all free, what else do you want.
