If the new Zelda is set before OOT then surely the whole game would have to be set in the Kokiri Forest? according to OOT that was the first time Link had ever left the Forest.

Looks like Miyamoto wasn't kidding and i'm gonna have to beleive the stupid story that every Zelda game has a different Link and a different Zelda.

Ahhhh nuts to Miyamoto that sucks....

Yeah but at the end of OoT Zelda revealed unto Link (hell yeah) that HE had been carrying a piece of the Triforce all along. He has courage, she has wisdom and Ganondorf has power.

Not originally.

Originally there were two parts of the Triforce (if there was a third, I am still to hear about it).

There was the one Ganon had - The Triforce of Power (coloured red)
And
The one Zelda guarded with the aid of link - The Triforce of Wisdom (coloured blue)

It was said that the one who holds them both shall be undefeatable, though Ganon was still defeated when he held both :)

Thats not a bad idea actually...the Triforce could sent Link to parrallel worlds without him knowing, to save all these different people... Like Sliders, if anyones seen that, except Link doesn't retain any memory of it.

Anyone remember the early video of OOT where you can see Link actually collecting the Triforce?

While were on the subject anyone see/play the beta test version where you can see the triforce spinning in one of the walls where you first meet Princess Zelda?

You could do all sorts of quirky things too, it looked fun fun.

Pah... well if I had it I'd make sure that Ganondorf clown didn't come back... I'd turn him into a... video game character... or something

miyamoto would say that storylines from individual games match and if you want them all linked (excuse the pun) think of it as the triforce sending link to different times and worlds.

The easiest way to try and think of it is as different timelines.

I wont try to figure out a chronological order, but each new character look is set in a different era. So it's not the same Link in every game.

So think of the two NES games as the same timezone.
A Link To The Past on SNES and GBA are another era.
Link's Awakening (Game Boy/Game Boy Color) can fit just about anywhere.
The Oracles games can fit just about anywhere.
Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask fit together in that order.
Zelda GC as it's own era.

Sure, the two main characters when featured in all these games have the same names, and it's still hard to try and explain why, but that's the easiest way to make it less confusing.

Yeah, during the war which seperated the different places, Link's mother fled Hyrule and knowing she wouldn't make it, entered the Kokiri forest to ak the Dekue tree for help. The Deku tree used his woodly powers and saw that Link would grow up to be a great hero and so took him in.
and Kokiri's won't die if they leave the forest, they will just start to age as normal.
