WTF?

Why leave now? Just as pre-season training as got under way.

Must have been some major bust-up.

Although, I can understand why they would want to get rid of him. Especially after spending all that cash and not having a single trophy to show for it...

Oh come on Ortega! Since when did the truth ever stop the press from printing rumours?! :-)

from bbc: Leeds have confirmed manager David O'Leary has been sacked - having earlier claimed his sudden departure was by mutual consent.

That's a shame. I liked O'Leary. Let's hope he gets a good job somewhere.

I didn't even know he quit until I read this. It is a great shock, but I wonder who will become Leeds manager now and where will O'Leary go from here?

Who do you think will be the manager?

Chris Kamara
Terry Venables
Brian Kidd
Mick McCarthy
Guus Hiddink
Eddie Gray
Or someone else

It will be interesting to see who gets it and whether Rio will stay or go.

You never know which football rumour to take seriously anymore. As a Gooner, I don't really want to see ManU strengthen their back four with one of the best centre backs in the game at the moment.

You have to admit though, the contract clause sounds pretty far fetched. If it is true, and Ferdinand wants to go to United, he'll go. Clause or no clause.

I'm not a leeds fan but i'm quite disapointed. Sure he didn't win a trophy but does everyone seem to forget he took them to the semi-finals of the champions league. If it is because he was against the sale of rio then surely that makes him a greater manager by wanting to keep his team together.

Wasn't there a clause in Ferdinand's contract preventing him from moving to another premiership club?
