Just saw in the Top 40 Games thread started by FM, that GasMask's name was greyed out, and he's been banned.

What for? Anyone know?

Are you suffering from humour loss? It wasn't a valid number and it was a JOKE.

Just unban him. Go on. This is pathetic really. It's just that gimp Whooo overreacting and reporting a blatantly sarcastic thread.

Are you suffering from memory loss?! He posted up a Serial number for a pirated piece of software, we can't allow that.

Yes Whooo - it was a daft thing to do and reading the post he knew that.

I have just looked at it and it is so obvious that he was not being serious, he made that clear by what he typed down.

I agree with Grix and Wookiee etc. The post should have been * out and Gasmask given a warning.

Hey - it was a joke and anyone can see that...

I agree with you about the favourtism thing, you've got to be fair and treat everyone equally, otherwise things just get out of hand.

But I still say what he did was not only wrong but pretty stupid, he knew it was a daft thing to do..

Assuming that all SR did was convert digits to asterisks, the format of a Fireworks code is:

aaannn-nnnnn-nnnnn-nnnnn

Where 'a' is a letter, and 'n' is a number.

Generally I would agree, but the whole tone of the post is one of sarcasm, and it is highly unlikely that it was a genuine number.

It's like you asking me for YH's phone number, and me telling you "Err, yeah, sure - of course I'll give you his phone number without his permission... here, it's 01234 567890" or - better yet - an 0898 number.

No-one is throwing tantrums, an GasMask did not break any rules - he probably pushed them a bit, but that's all. There are other people who have, and not been banned.

The other issue here is favouritism. Mystique posted a joke that would have got many people banned. And we are told here that she would have been if not for intervention by another member of staff, and instead got a warning.

Now I like Mystique as much as most other people here do, and am certainly glad that she wasn't banned. But that post clearly broke rules, while on reflection GasMask's didn't.

I know we all have out favourites here, but rules must surely be applied equally to everyone, and I think GasMask should be re-instated but perhaps given a warning, as it is less clear that he broke rules than it was for Mystique. And let's not even mention the numerous chances that certain other posters have been given over previous months.

If decisions on banning are now to be decided by who the staff like and who they don't, these forums will rapidly lose the camaraderie they've built up over the last couple of years.

"My two cents"...... have just fallen on the floor..... hur hur

Bah, not knowing the guy doesnt make me feel sorry for him in any way but if he did something wrong then SR have the right to ban him. Like they have the right to ban anyone for anything.

Yes, maybe all of his post WAS a little jokey BUT he did actually post the code thingy and thats where it stopped being a joke for a second.

But then again, SR *could* have just deleted him post and given him a MAJOR warning or something.

Theres quite a few other people on here that deserve the banning and I cant seem to figure how they havent been banned by now.

*looks around the room and points at some people*

Anyway, he has been banned and thats the end of the story. Im sure he will come back and apologise or whatever shortly. You dont think that someone who's been banned *wont* come back do you.....? It happens all the time.

I like the way you changed the subject for a moment there Darkus, very good. :D

And, another thing; Piracy is BAD..... mkay?

Thanks.
