Mos**t of you will probably be aware of certain hos**tilities between groups of youths in our country. We have seen the forming of ‘gangs’ around various musical genres. There are two main types involved in these hos**tilities, the dance/garage/house etc. fans and the metal/nu-metal, kerrang fans. Some of you may have read an earlier topic I wrote here in the music forum, regarding hos**tilities between these two groups called ‘Warring Factions’. It was basically about how the kerrang fans always seem to play the victims. In an issue of the Kerrang magazine a few months ago there was an article about how rock fans are always picked on, getting abuse yelled at them, and in extreme cases attacked. Kerrang also often get letters with readers complaining about how they are always picked on and s**tuff. My other topic was basically jus**t saying that a lot of these Kerrang / nu-metal fans are hos**tile to others anyway, they’re not all the victims, some are dealing out the abuse.

Well, with the lates**t Kerrang mag they said next week they’re giving away some s**tickers. There was a picture displaying some of them. One s**ticker reads ‘Townies = sh*t’ (a ‘clever’ play on a slipknot song or lyric I believe, ‘People = sh*t’). Now what’s that about? Kerrang, ever playing up the apparent fact that the kerrang fans are victims here are now dishing out s**tickers in order to provoke the ‘opposition’. And you can bet at leas**t some of the whiners will use these s**tickers, misguidedly thinking they are ‘fighting back’ agains**t the ‘enemy’ they have created, when all it is doing is provoking things. It’s truly moronic. They claim the moral high ground going on with all this crap about how they welcome variety (because so many people seem to be obsessed with being ‘different’ rather than being themselves) and they can’t be the ones causing the hos**tilities. Then they go printing this bull, which is going to serve no purpose but to heighten tensions, and maybe get a few of their readers beaten up.

It truly makes me wonder about the s**tate of our country (as if there wasn’t enough to worry about already) when musical tas**te becomes such a big issue for the youth of today. What is the problem with everyone jus**t lis**tening to what they want, dressing how they want, and not slating others because they don’t belong to the same group?

Some people really are total morons.

I don't care about s**tuff where they go and mock pop music and all that, smoe of it is quite funny, but the thing that annoyed me was that Kerrang always plays the victim in the respect of their fans getting abuse and that, then they s**tart to provoke it with this. Surely if they don't want abuse themselves they don't go around calling those who are different to them 'sh*t' when they claim to accept variety within their scene.

I myself lis**ten to alternative music (punk rock, harcore, ska punk, pos**t hardcore, emo, etc. etc.) and I do sometimes get people taking the mick, not to the point where I feel I am being bullied and that, but it does annoy me at times. It jus**t annoys me that they play the victim, then print something like this which isn't jus**t taking the mick out of something else, but is actually going to the point of trying to provoke something, like saying "hey, look I think you're a piece of sh*t because of your musical tas**te". Mocking something, having a bit of a prod at it and going out there to severely p*ss people off to the point where they may react are different.

Basically, people wouldn't like it if others used s**tickers with slogans like "Metalheads = sh*t" or "Metal = sh*t" so why is the scene that is supposed to accept variety doing this to others?

Good post,i know what you are saying , but this is not a new thing.

I have always prided myself on bieng different, liking rock/metal kind of seems to be the 'way' to be different.

I used to get Kerrang magazine ,Raw magazine and even Metal Hammer (does anyone remember these?).

Each month they used to give away stickers and banners that mocked the 'popular' scene, and used to get 'them' irate.

But it is something that we (rock/metal/nu-metal) take pride in and enjoy upsetting the 'majority'.

So although you go on about how it's wrong ,we enjoy it.

Maybe you think that's wrong , bothered !

*Tongue in cheek*
