> You talk about the Xbox as if it is the under dog over the PS2
Because it is, and that's a fact. As I said elsewhere, Xbox and Gamecube are battling between themselves for second place in the sales standings.
That's not me being biased/a fan boy/knocking the machine, or whatever else you want to call it - it's simply a fact.
> but it can only get better from here on!
I sincerely hope it does, otherwise I wasted £300 of my hard earned money on the thing!
> Remember October 2000, the PS2 release list was naff
Whether it was naff or not is irrelevant. What matters is that there were more games, released quicker. Xbox has been out three and a half months now, and not only have there been very few games added to the launch titles, but even fewer have been worth buying. And from my own personal viewpoint, there will be nothing even worth considering until September at the earliest.

But it is a fact - those four games at least are coming to PS2.
X-box sales will drop lower than they already have and PS2 owners will see no point in getting an X-box if this happened.

The thing is, people usually flock to new hardware. But they haven't. People are waiting to see what's available, and in truth there isn't much at the moment.
Low sales have already resulted in some games - Wreckless, Enclave, Splinter Cell and Malice - losing their Xbox exclusivity. And three of those before they've even appeared on the Xbox!

Doubt all you like - I have my own questions about the claim - but we'll see if and when it arrives.
As for PS2 not lasting the next two years... get real! It's already sold too many units to disappear, and is still outselling Xbox and Gamecube combined. Xbox and Gamecube are battling each other for second place - that's a globally accepted fact.

You don't need to preach to me - I own an Xbox, and owned DoA3. In fact I traded my PS2 DoA2 for DoA3. I took it back because it was no different. Yes, it looks a little better, but esentially it's identical to DoA2. It's also painful to play (for me) on the Xbox controller.
> If the PS2 can match the graphical power of the Xbox
I have at no time said that PS2 could match the graphics of the Xbox. I've said that the games would be possible. That said, I maintain my belief that while the Xbox is capable of more in terms of graphics, it isn't as far in advance of the other platforms as some people would have you believe.

I'm not convinced of that. I believe there is better to come from Xbox - but I also believe there is better to come from the PS2.

You must have had a small collection then! I've currently got 14 games, but that doesn't include those which I've complete and sold/traded. But then that's all down to personal preference.
I've had my Xbox since launch, and have three games - Halo, PGR and Munch's Oddysee. Every time I go into a shop, I see the same Xbox games staring out of me, but none of them are must-have titles, and for me personally there are none due until very late this year.
It's actually ironic that you say there are more titles for you on Xbox than PS2, when many of the forthcoming Xbox titles are ports from the PS2.

That depends on the games you had, I suppose. I've not noticed it too much myself. Though I have noticed constant (but very slight) pauses in Halo, and pop-up in PGR.
> Believe it or not, Halo on the Xbox runs at 30fps, but this isn't PS2

Frames per second means just that - frames per second. There can be no difference, otherwise it isn't frames per second. And what about the PS2 games that run at 60fps?
Also, framerate depends on the optimisation used by developers more than the console itself. The following is from Official Xbox Magazine issue 3, speaking about the framerate in Halo:
"Has the most prominent difference between the two display modes, but it's an exception rather than a rule. Choose PAL-60 and you'll get the NTSC signal forced through a PAL display, and it stutters visibly due to the number of frames that have to be dropped. Switch over to PAL-50, however, and you get the game in its optimised form. The framerate is smoother, and everything runs with no loss of detail or speed. In fact, PAL-50 may be smoother than NTSC."
Proof, if any were needed, that framerate depends on optimisation and not the abilities of the machine.
> I hope the PS2 does really well
I think you'll find that it already has, and is going from strength to strength. With the games due this year, sales look set to continue in more than satisfactory numbers, further cementing PS2's position as market leader.
> but I can't believe you are comparing the graphics of 2 consoles that

That really says it all, doesn't it? Two-year-old hardware still selling better than all of the competition combined. Which for the second time in a row proves that tech specs alone do not sell consoled. As with the last generation, Sony don't have the best specs, but they have the best overall package.
