Of course, an decent FPS needs decent weapons... and luckilly, there's a few guns you can't help but love. Here are my favourites...
--------------------
"Turok: Dinosaur Hunter" - Acclaim, Acclaim Studios Austin (or Iguana Entertainment as it was known as back in 1997)
Tek Bow:
A weapon that went on to appear in every other Turok game devised, the Tek Bow is, and always will be, a classic. Explosive arrows? Oooh, suits you sir! Despite the addition of a sniper scope to the Tek Bow in Turok 2, the likes of the Mag 60 and the Cerebral Bore stopped the Tek Bow from staying as one of my firm favourites in the sequel.
--------------------
"Turok 2: Seeds of Evil" - Acclaim, Acclaim Studios Austin (or Iguana Entertainment as it was still known as back in 1998)
Mag 60:
A handgun that fires quick 3-round bursts. Great for headshots... one pull of the trigger and even the biggest enemy hits the floor.
Cerebral Bore:
God bless the demonic, heartless soul who conjured up this little beauty! This sends a "bore" which homes in on brain activity, attaches itself to the skull of a hapless victim then starts drilling away... all the while chucking the poor sap's brain juices and a whole load of blood all over the floor. All rounded off with a lovely explosion, which deprives one more hulking big monster of its' beloved head. The fact that it's got a "homing gizmo" (HA!) on it means that even a novice gets to see all the lovely dinosaur gore.
Scorpion Missile Launcher:
Another weapon equipped with one of those new fangled homing gizmos, the Scorpion Missile Launcher delivers a volley of three missiles that home in on heat sources... and they'll even lock onto multiple targets. Ah, the wonders of modern technology, eh?
--------------------
"Turok: Rage Wars" - Acclaim, Acclaim Studios Austin
Chestburster:
Those chaps at Acclaim just keep on letting those grotesque out, with no regard for those of us who'd like to stay sane until we reach 25... but what the hell do I care? This injects an alien embryo into your foe, which explodes out of their chest after about 10 seconds. Lovely, like!
Plasma Rifle:
Good for long range kills, which is always a good thing. With either a lovely big powerful shot or a rapid fire mode complete with a cool sniper scope make this a firm favourite of mine when endulging in the Rage Wars.
--------------------
"Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion" - Acclaim, Acclaim Studios Austin
Firestorm Cannon:
The weapons in Turok 3 were pretty, well... dodgy to be perfectly honest, but this toned down version of the Firestorm Cannon from Turok 2 just about pulled the arsenal through to the standards I expect. Despite it gobbling ammo like it's going out of fashion, the Firestorm Cannon is just one of those guns that's plain good fun to use.
--------------------
"GoldenEye 007" - Nintendo, Rareware (as if you didn't know!)
KF7 Soviet:
Of all the machine-gun style weapons ever created in a game, this has got to be my favourite. It just feels right, if you know what I mean. Plus it's got a decent magazine size too. Nicely!
--------------------
"Perfect Dark" - Nintendo, Rareware
RC-P120:
The Carrington Institute's secret weapon. Delivers a blindingly fast torrent of bullets, with 120(!) in each magazine. Also equipped with a cloaking device which runs off of the ammo in the gun. Plum! Its' only disadvantage is that you can't fire while cloaked, but the fact that it penetrates shields in an instant more than makes up for it.
Slayer:
Ingenius! The Skedar rocket launcher that allows you to actually guide your rocket towards your "totally fecked" foe in a fully manouverable fashion. Oh, God bless America!
--------------------
"Outtrigger" - SEGA, AM2
Flamethrower:
Need I say more? Delivers a flamin' powerful (oh, the hilarity!) lick of fire that barbercues enemies in seconds. Good range, too.
Photon Torpedo Launcher:
Pretty nifty, if I do say so. Sends bouncin' balls of photon energy their way. Good for getting rid of sneaky little beggars who think they can hide behind corners and stay unnoticed.
--------------------
"Quake II" - Activision, id Software
BFG 10K:
Despie the Quake III version of the BFG 10K being "the bees' knees", Quake II's version is FAR better. Even if the initial ball of green stuff misses its' target, the impact of energy hitting cold steel sends out green lightning bolts which hit any enemies in close proximity. Mint! It's nowhere near as rapid firing as Quake III's BFG, but it's still better, by George!
--------------------
"Quake III Arena" - Activision, id Software
BFG 10K:
The classic "Big Fu... eh, Freakin' Gun". Massive balls of plasma that nothing can withstand. Aim it right, then forget about your opponent and grab a quick carton of Ribena and a bourbon biscuit. The fact that it's rapid firing means that it's a tad unfair on anyone you shoot at... but when has Quake III ever been about "being fair"?
--------------------
"Unreal Tournament" - Infogrames, Secret Level
Ripper:
Bouncy blades that go far enough as to chop some guy's head off! Lovely jubbly! Or you can make them explode. Slicy dicey fun!
Redemer:
When the going gets tough, the guns get nuclear. A massive blast radius that more often than not kills at least 2 enemies in one go. But why is it that I usually get caught in the blast as well? Probably because I'm crap.
-------------------
"Duke Nukem 3D" - 3D Realms
Shrinker:
When it comes to outlandish guns, no one beats da Duke... except maybe Turok's arsenal of villiage flattening guns. But for those of you who haven't accquanted yourselves with the dinosaur hunter, there's Duke Nukem's Shrinker, which turns enemies into pint-sized li'l tykes... until you come along and turn them into piles of red stuff with your big black boot (TM).
Devastator:
Two barrels of missile based mayhem. The Devastator fires a barrage of miniature stinger missiles. Great fun, and a great way to splatter some alien scum all over the wall. Yummy!
-------------------
"Doom", "Doom II", "Final Doom" - id Software
Rocket Launcher:
The classic death dealer.
Rockets not fired = charming mantelpiece ornaments.
Rocket fired = one less Imp to think about and some lovely red stains on your space marine suit. Never mind. Vanish Tablets will get rid of it.
------------------
And that's about it. I've gone through just about every FPS game that I can think of... except Castle Wolfenstein 3D, which had pitifully dodgy guns; none of which were worthy of this topic. If anyone thinks of any other FPS games that I've failed to mention, put 'em down... and tell me your fave guns.
Oh, and to stick closely to the topic title... I like red roses, not those scatty white ones.

I've just thought of a few...
Red Faction
Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force
Timesplitters
And I'm called Dark Mark because... um, because I'm evil(?). *ahem!*
