I don’t think that’s right man... don’t get me wrong, I know absolutely nothing about the 4th, 5th, or any other dimensions (I get confused enough by the three I live in)... But from what I read earlier today, it seems that (if you consider the 4th dimension to be time) because we are restricted to a three dimensional interpretation of the universe we are barely able to adequately perceive the 4th dimension… We can’t even validly determine its existence?
oh well...
In my opinion, you can't add any more "dimensions" to games than are already there, bar the display of 3d games in a 3d environment. Which is a virtual reality anyway...

You speak of 24 (or sometimes 10) dimensional superstring theory. If you want to read a great book on it, as well as one that covers what 4/5/6... dimensions ACTUALLY are then read "Hyperspace" by a guy called Kaku.
Now, I'll go through this one more time for people still debating over it...
The 4th dimension can be defined as either a spacial one or temporal one- it's up to you which one you chose.
If you're talking about a temporal dimension, give up! You couldn't comprehend it unless you do some serious reading on the subject (the above book is excellent). Oh, and it can't be displayed to our 3D minds... so it's not worth talking about 4D games!
If you're speaking about a temporal dimensions, then games like Zelda OOT already use the concept. Indeed, any game where time alters things (day/night) could almost be described of as being 4D in the temporal dimension.

But one peice of advice, don't watch this Horizon while drunk, or you will NEVER recover.
ever
You could research this 11th dimension theory, or you could watch the Horizon which taught me, and confused me forever.

Star Wars had 3D holographic games in the style of videogames.
Star Trek had 3D holographic simulators which could simulate virtually anything - not necessarily games.
And although there was time, it wasn't used.
It's like calling a 2D game a 3D game because the parallax backgrounds made it look like there was things in the background.
Given that time can only go one way, and can't be influenced by games programmers, what exactly are all you people talking about? It takes time to play any game, and so the 4th dimension has been a part of gaminf before even the 2nd and 3rd were.
