Not sure about WinMX but Kazaa is bursting with spyware, and won't function without it. Also if you read their service agreement then there's some very sinister stuff in there. You can fix this by using the free client from www.kazaalite.com. Windows only at the moment, though.

But the thing that set Audiogalaxy apart from WinMX etc was the info it had on the bands. I used to go and look at my favourite bands and then try some MP3s by the bands they recommended from the same genre.

I discovered loads of new bands that way and went and bought CDs by the best of them. That's CDs that I never would have bought without Audiogalaxy giving me the chance to find and try new bands.

It's a sad day if this is the end. Audiogalaxy was the best, by a very long way. Meh.

Yes, but I have to use sodding Windows to use those - or use WINE, which is generally dodgy at best.

OpenFT is another good alternative though. Best P2P network I've ever used, there just aren't too many users.

Kazaa or Winmx are both excellent alternatives to Audiogalaxy.

If you don't want to pay for your music, just buy a CD, take it home and copy it. Then, just return it to the shop saying you bought it as a birthday present for someone, but they already had it.

Seems like audiogalaxy is dead. Jeez, the amount of records I bought AFTER hearing stuff on audiogalaxy. Unbelievable.

Well, screw the record industry: I'm now going to pirate everything on major labels on principle.
