Inamoto set for Arsenal talks
Junichi Inamoto is set for talks over his Arsenal future after the World Cup after admitting he was shocked at hearing he had been released.
Japan midfielder Inamoto revealed he only heard of his apparent release from television reports and although Arsene Wenger has said he will discuss the player's future after the tournament, the Premier League has confirmed that the 22-year-old is on the club's list of released players.
"I haven't heard directly from the manager," Inamoto said. "I think he called once but I missed it.
"There's a possibility we'll meet after the World Cup and discuss the situation, but right now I still feel I'm an Arsenal player."
Inamoto, who scored in Japan's 2-2 draw with Belgium and hit the winner in the 1-0 victory over Russia in his country's first two Group H matches, admits his future is unknown.
"All I've heard is what is in the news. I was watching TV in my room before going to bed and suddenly there was a newsflash saying I'd been axed by Arsenal, which woke me up a bit," he added.
"Of course I want to stay at Arsenal but if I don't get a new contract I'll have no regrets.
"All I can hope to do is push for a place but the manager picks the team. If I'm released, I'll just have to find another club."
Inamoto joined Arsenal for around £4million last summer but has yet to make a Premiership start for the Double winners.

Now I'm not sure how the ins-and-outs of all this work, but how can the Premier League list a player as 'released' without any official confirmation from the club? Doesn't seem right to me.
I think its down to Arsenal releasing him prematurly without knowing the success he would in the WC.

It all still seems a bit suspicious to me, he would have definatly fetched a decent fee with the likes of PSV Eindhoven interested in his services.
He played most of the game against Blackburn in the Worthington Cup, and looked completely out of his depth. Blackburn ran rings around him, and he gave the ball away on numerous occasions. He just had no confidence on the ball at all.
I dread to think what would have happened had he played in the Premiership!
Even on the bus at the parade through Islington, he looked completely overwhelmed by the crowds!
It may be that this World Cup performance gives him the confidence he needs, and that - should Arsenal keep him - he will prove to be the player Wenger thought he would be when he signed him.
It would be a shame to see him go on the back of this performance, but we're not exactly lacking in the midfield area, so he may choose to leave, even if Wenger wants to keep him. Time will tell.
Arsenal bought him for merchandising purposes. Now they realise he's ACTUALLY a good player, and they are simply reacting to keep him before anyone else can snap him up, so they can make more money out of him.
All this and the footballing personnel call themselves professionals?

Exactly.
