I know they're not exactly new news, but New found glory are a band that deserve your attention.

In 1997 the guys released a 5 track cd on fiddler records called 'It's all about the girls'. After the well deserved success of this low budget CD, USA punk label, drive thu records signed them up to a full lengh album 'Nothing gold can stay'. This CD took what had already been layed out on the first cd, then added to it. You can hear the sound starting to evolve and the band forming to become one. Then their third album came which was a punk cover cd. Where they gave the NFG touch to songs from a selection of movies. These included the theme from the Goonies, Titanic and Never ending story. Until this point the band were known as 'A new found glory' but from the fourth album onwards they are to be known as 'new found glory'. Their fourth title was a self titled album which really made a name for the band. The songs were much more organised, every thing fitted together and run like clockwork. Finally, last monday was the release of their fith cd 'Sticks and stones' which is quite simular to self titled but is getting a bit weaker and moving more into punk-pop. But still it is a great CD that has been playing non stop since I got it.

NFG used to mainly sing about relationships. They cover felling mixed emotions about someone, loss, new relationships, heartache etc. They still do that but have also expanded into more subjects. There are now songs about moving away, growing up, the death of loved ones, friendship and more. Their latest album actualy doesnt have many songs that are directly about relationships. Some on the surface sound like they are, but as you listen more you realise what the lyrics are actualy saying. Take the song Sonny for example which is about the death of Jordan's (singer) grandad. Their song 'My friends over you' which is the first single from sticks and stones is still all about relationships and has a lot in common with older NFG music. Steve (guitar)says 'it's about experiencing a bad and hurtful relationship in the past and not being able to get over it. Though you meet a really nice person and things are great, you can't take it to the next level, since you keep remembering how much your last relationship took out of you. It's about taking the easy way out and choosing your friends, since that's a sure bet you won't get hurt.' NFG right all their songs (except the covers of other songs of course) and each is based apon life experience making them very easy to relate to.

NFG are my favourite band, not just because I love their music and it really speaks to me, but the way they are. I have never come across a band so dedecated to its fans. They have given out their email address so fans can email them and get a respons from bass player Ian. Their email can be found inside the covers of their CD's along with their mail address. The band never stop touring, they go everywhere. At every show and signing they do they stick around for ages to meet, talk to and sign stuff for fans. They're not like the usual 'next, thanks for coming out, next' bands. They have conversations with fans, let them take loads of pictures ect. One person I know gave Cyrus (drums) her favourite braclet, in return she got a hug and a free t-shirt. Another ended up using two films of camera film when they met them. Someone else went to a cd signing but didnt buy the cd from the store so couldnt get in. So he waited out the back, when the guys came out they signed stuff etc. But he was also filimng with his camcorder. Chad (Lead guitar) did a few things for the camera, he was being annoyed by some little kids who wouldnt give him room so he took his hat off, threw it and said 'whoever gets it can keep it'.

I have never seen them play live and hope I can one day. They are supposed to be really great and full of energy. There conserts are always packed especialy one time. They were playing a venue that hold 100 people, they had 700 in there. There was kids everywhere, all over the stage, the band could hardly move. I know it's dumb, and a fire hazard etc but that is great dedication to their fans. Their recent european tour is now over but they will be returning to the UK in August for the Reading and Leads festivals. I doubt I will be going, even though im quite close to Reading. I think there are still some tickets available for the friday which NFG play, so I might still have a chance. If not im still going up into Reading that day, just incase im lucky and finally get to meet my favourite band.

Look out for and listen to NFG, they will be BIG. They have been tipped to be the next Greenday and have the support of a lot of punk bands and loads of fans. I just hope that when they are the next Blink or Greenday that they dont lose touch with their fans. Because at the moment there is bairly a gap between the band and the fans.

Check out New found glory's official site at www.newfoundglory.com It is a true site for the fans. It's full of pictures, videos, tour dates, news, interviews etc. It also has a special section which is unlocked if you have the new NFG CD.

Well I think im done now. If you have any NFG comments, opinions or questions please post them here. Oh and try not to let this get into a topic where everyone just ends up listing the bands they like.

Thanks for reading

Listened to it yet?

Yesturday I signed up for this Street team thing. you promote new CDs and concerts etc by artists including NFG, Blink and Fenix Tx then you get stuff it return. You get sent a pack full of stickers, badges and flyers to give out (and keep some for yourself) you also get radio stations etc to play certain songs, and other things like that. You then contact the people in charge and inform them of what you have done and you get a signed copy of Sticks and Stones plus other things. Some people have got concert tickets and backstage passes etc.

Thanks.
You wont be dissapointed with the new CD. A few of the tracks, at first I thought wernt very good and wernt the new found glory we know. But they grown on you. I guess it was the same for me with their other albums.

Over the years I've become very jaded after many bad experiences with customer services, you have bucked the trend. Polite and efficient from the Freeola team, well done to all involved.
