And there is only one reason why. Or in fact, only one word why. Hayfever.

For the past few days, and seemingly for the oncoming couple of months, I have woken up feeling incredibly crap.

My nose is blocked.

My nose can also be runny.

Oh yes, and I’ve rubbed my nose so much that it’s red all over, and that’s thanks to its constant itching.

My eyes water. Constantly.

My eyes itch. Constantly.

I sneeze. All the damn time, usually in frenzies or around fifteen before I’m finally able to recover.

Oh, and finally, my throat itches. Yes, my throat.

In German today I had to read out a roleplay, and I sounded like a parrot with a peg attached to it’s nose (if that’s even possible.)

I look, feel, and sound like I’m absolutely exhausted. That could be because I don’t go to sleep until 1am, and I’m getting up at the earlier time of half seven for the World Cup, but I’m sure Hayfever contributes to it.

The Benadryl tablets ran out this morning. I’d only had about three of them, and the rest of my family don’t even have Hayfever!

Oooh, yes, and it was raining for a lot of today. I can’t imagine what it’ll be like on a hot, scorching day, while all those lovely insects and flowers are pollinating.

My nose is okay while I’m standing up and running around, but as soon I sit or lie down it all fills up, and the chances of breathing through my nose are about the same as George Bush actually making a good decision.

So yes, I do hate summer. There’s nothing better than being cosy and warm in your house while it’s absolutely chucking down outside, but as for summer…well, it doesn’t matter whether I’m in or out, it’s still crap.

The Benadryl adverts tells me not to let flowers get away with it. Well, I try not to let them in my back garden, but every time I do my mother chases me from her prized garden with a rather long rake.

Ah well. I’m off now, to do a huge amount of sneezing, a large number of sniffs and most probably a lot of eye-rubbing too. Summer.

Thanks for reading, Ant.

And to add to it, I think I've broken my big toe playing football yesterday...might not be broken, but it's damn painful, and very swollen.

Heh, thanks for the advice guys, it's nice to know I'm not the only one...not nice for you though, obviously. {:)

I think I'll go see my Doctor...if he's still in Essex, which I don't think he is. I'll get some woman shoving her fingers up my arsse again and asking, "does that hurt?"...anyway, enough of that.

Last year the Doctor had me on Clarityn, a nose spray and eye drops. It wasnt particularly effective, so now im on cetirizine dihydrochloride, and they work a treat.

I take beconase spray too. I have pretty bad asthma which is slowly getting better. I also get bad hayfever and reactions to dust, feathers and pollen. I would recomend the spary stuff too, means I can go out and play footy without feeling like crap etc.
Go see your doctor and ask him about it just incase there are medical reasons etc why you couldn't have something like this.

You don't need to take tablets at all.

I used to take Aller-Eze, which did the job and had no side-effects. But about four years ago, I couldn't get hold of any, and bought some other brand whose name I can't recall.

Anyway, one of the possible side-effects was a tight chest - and I got that pretty bad after about a week of taking them, and had real trouble breathing. So I stopped taking them, and after about four days, my breathing was back to normal.

I went back to Aller-Eze, but unfortunatley this other brand seemed to have triggered something, and the Aller-Eze suddenly gave me the same side-effect, but not quite as bad.

Anyway, since then, I've switched to Beconase Hayfever. This is a spray, which you squirt once or twice up each nostril a couple of times a day. I've had no side-effects whatsoever, and it's just as effective as any tablets I've ever taken. I'd highly recommend it.

I used to suffer really badly so about five years ago and went to the doctor and had an injection, it's usually their last resort but it cleared it up straight away and I had a great summer. I had the injection again the following year but the third I agreed with the doctor to see how it went.

Now I just buy a beconase at the beggining of the year and use it if and when necessary which is only about 4 or 5 days a year. Bargain.

Go to the doctor Ant and see if they still do the jobs - worked for me !

Hey Lawless, you say you don't believe in taking pills, but when you can't see 'cos your eyes are p*ssing tears, you're sneezing every 10-20 seconds for 2 or 3 hours, and your head feels like it's full of steel wool for 2 months every year, you might consider popping a pill every morning to make it stop, and allow you to lead a normal life, instead of being a human snotball.

Just a thought.

I don't get hayfever, so I kinda find it hard to sympathise, ner ner :P

Ok, that out of the way, I don't take tablets, don't really believe in it much. I rekon you should ride it out, but then it's hayfever, and I don't know how that works (if it definately comes back every year etc).

So, does it come back ever year? Maybe if I know, I can sympathise somewhat.
