talk about ote you like guys and girls
I didn't or rather couldn't believe that Nintendo would stop making consoles after the GC, especially with the amount of popularity surrounding their latest console. I think it would be a foolish move by the company to quit at a market that they seem to be winning back slightly.
Oh, and Ninty aren't stopping console manufacture... it was a misinterpetation apparantly!

It most certainly is not true.

PS3 will not be backwards-compatible - Sony have already said as much.
I exepect it will be another DVD-based machine (unless another high-capacity technology becomes available in the meantime), most probably with a large in-built hard drive and modem with broadband capability.
There will possibly be four controller ports, simply to shut up those who constantly whinge about there only being two. Personally, I wouldn't be bothered if it had just two.
However, with the expected power of the machine, maybe they'll really push the boat out and go for eight ports - or maybe four standard, with 4 USB ports with the option of buying extra USB controllers.
Sony are heading towards a complete home entertainment system, so fully-functional DVD playback (the green-screen cop-out was the biggest mistake they made with PS2) and DD5.1/DTS outputs would be nice, with bult-in hardware decoding.
Who knows - there may even be more expansion possibilities than the PS2 has, with ports to connect to God knows what.
They will hopefully pay a lot of attention to ensuring that all this comes together in a professional system, with nothing feeling like it's been thrown in as an afterthought.
not sure if this true thou.
one more thing if ur gonna get a second console like me get a xbox :)

I do have my doubts to the press announcement from the new Nintendo president, especially if Nintendo are aiming to sell 50 million GC's. I don't really know what to make of the announcement. I also read somewhere that Sony expects to reach the 50 million sales figure with the PS2 by the end of the year. Nintendo and Microsoft will need to pull their finger out if they want to catch up.
Anyway, the only reason Sony have got so ahead in the console market is because of the machines early release. It wasn't exactly the most memorable of releases either, most of the games that came out at the same time where half finished, and some of the first consoles had faults.
That's why I think sony need to slow down, I fear the PS3 may have the same problems when it is eventually launched, just so the company can get a head start and bring in the sales.
or if the PS3 drive had a DVD writer then wow, buy the game online, download then make the disc yourself, piracy would be a serious issue though, ok I'm babling so I'll stop now;-)

Especially sinse nintendo are supposedly quitting making consoles after the cube, which will only leave microsoft as any real competition, and they aren't planning another console for a few years yet. At least I think their not.
