+there is no such thing as a bad penalty which hits the back of the net.
Batistuta has the best scoring record out of anyone in the team and did a lot to get them there it is absolutely criminal to suggest he shouldn't be there especially as he has their only goal of the tournament.
The reason why they lost is a) because they had a bad day in midfield as a result of being out played by scholes and butt. B) the values of most of their players is over inflated so they appear better and C) their defence isn't great (placente, ponchettino and cavallero aren't very good.) They have samuel who is excelent but he can't do everything with ayala out of action.

I wasnt making any excuses.
I hadnt even mentioned anything about Argentina having a weakened team before this thread.
Ashley made a point about Batistuta being a top player and I dont agree with him. All i agree with was that Batistuta *WAS* a top player...

If Argentina had won, it would have been "oh, and we did it with a weakened team" etc.
Argentina 0 - 1 Imbeciles
*Laughing all the way to the bank*
Though I'll still support England as far as they go, I don't really care what happens after this point. Beating that lot was better than winning the World Cup, and seeing the look on fat-boy Maradruggie's face was a real treat.
But the Argentinians sportsmanship is dreadful all the way through it just makes me hate them even more, Simione goes to shake Beckhams hand before the taken of the penalty and the keeper he was pointing one way saying stuff like put it that way. It's just disappointing to see what they have to do, but Beckham stood up tall and took it nice
As for Batistuta, he hardly played at all in qualifying and was left out of the squad completly for half of the qualifying phase. Crespo was the top man by far.
And Yes, having the captain Ayala missing, was a major blow.
I bet kids learn a lot of good things from that.
