The 3 favourites for the World cup have been beaten in the first round of the World Cup.
France went down to Senegal, Argentina got done by an Owen dive (hell, even Klinsmann said it was a dive...and he should know! :D) But I'm not argueing about that in here...
And know we got the main favourites Italy being beaten by Croatia?! Italians were bloody unlucky though.
I nearly forgot about Portugal being beat by the US...bloody hell...
This just goes to show anything can happen, and I think Brazil have to be considered as serious contenders for the Cup.
The English have always played by the rules, and I think they should start acting a bit 'tougher'.
The Argies have schemed and cheated many teams in the past - not just England - with their diving, handballs, hacking challenges and so on.
Good on Owen I say. The problem with the English in many sports is that they're too damn nice and gentlemanly when it comes to things like this, and it's about time they started getting tough.
Never mind playing to the letter of the law - push the rules. I'm not saying fall over at every challenge and kick lumps out of the opposition, but if you're in the area and get caught, don't bother trying to stay on your feet - go down. Play withing the rules, but bend them to the limit, just like everyone else does.
If you play fair and the opposition cheat, you won't win. There's no point bitching about it - play the buggers at their own game; you'll only stand a chance of winning on a level playing field.
Please stop going on about it in every thread. I said i wasnt agueing about it in this thread, just mentioning it as to how one of the big teams got beat.
Owen dive!?! what are you on about, watch the game next time
