I put the bands down I listen to which, if you are into a certain genre, will know. And as I am into that type of genre I know them whilst others won't.
Most of those bands I put are from bands which I have just seen listed or reccomended by others bands and I take the time to go listen and enhance my musical tastes.

Okay, make that 3... well unless you count some old bands that I don't really listen to huge amounts...
Anyway, I didn't list Offspring becasue I hardly listen to them anymore... I didn't list LTJ because I never have listened to them huge amounts and even less recently (dunno why...) and I did list Green Day because I thought of one of their songs I wanted to listen to as I was typing the list...
Maybe people just like more bands that are not so well known...
