Well thats the date I heard a few months ago. Maybe they have changed it due to Spiderman coming out on that day.

geez. I didn't say it shouldn't have been made. It should have been made and it has been made and it's not a bad film but people rave about it unjustifiably because dated as Romero's films are they are still the benchmark for zombie flicks.
I'm not saying don't like Resident Evil. I've downloaded it and I like it. All I'm saying is that if you're going to know where you're at, you've got to know where you've been. At least take the time to see the competition.
What riles me is when films come out and accidently become the precedent because people can't remember what's come before. Lots of people here won't have seen any of the films I mentioned and come the next zombie film they'll automatically think back to Resi. I don't object to people liking it in the slightest, but greatest zombie film ever? I think not. When that film comes along, and it might be Resident evil nemesis, then I'm going to judge it against Romero's films.
Maybe it does sound arrogant, but you've got to keep old films alive until they've been unequivocally shoved into the gutter and had their collective faces kicked in.

Anyway, I've seen the film, and it's NOT a zombie film. It's an action film with little to no gore. But it was pretty good
Sorry.
What's the matter with making a zombie flick?
Just 'cos YOU think it can't compare to other films then it shouldn't be made.
A bit arrogant ,don't you think?

He is married to (or about to marry) Milla Jovovich you know.
Fair play to him as she's just a little bit of a hottie, but he shouldn't get involved in the whole let-your-girlfriend-in-on-the-act scene. Luc Besson learnt to his cost that doing the same thing with Milla resulted in the godawful adaptation of Joan of Arc, a role that Jovovich was clearly incapable of playing, no matter how many shots of her breasts he used to pacify the audience.
Sure a zombie film's not going to have oscar-winning dialogue (though Evil Dead's is legendary) but Jovovich dialogue?
*shudders*
She was a model-turned actress for god's sake.
Nice face shame about the brain.
Night of the Living Dead
Day of the Dead
Dawn of the Dead
Evil Dead
Evil Dead II
and then you will realise that Resident Evil is merely a mediocre zombie film, despite all its technical hoo-ha and big name actors.
Sorry guys but zombie films from the 80's kick the atrophied butt of Resident Evil.
