Most of us know whats coming out for our X-Box now and its looking very impressive. :-) If you could add 10 games to the list that aren't on the way, which ones would they be ? Don't just think of your favourite games, think of the list and what would really help the X-Box. Obviously leave out titles like Mario and Metroid, but for a laugh lets keep Rare in the possibilities seeing as the rumours are still floating around about them going multiformat. ;-)
Heres my 10 games....

American McGee's Alice
Conker's Bad Fur Day
Command and Conquer Red Alert 2
Perfect Dark
WWE Smackdown
Tekken
Nights
Final Fantasy
Ace Combat
Rogue Leader

Well I certainly wasn't touched by any Nintendo goodness this time. The games are either frustrating or getting through situations just seems more based on luck than judgement.

Plus a lot of the games are just getting old to me now, really had my fill of Nintendo updates and the ones that are taking a new direction just don't appeal to me. F-Zero is an exception, but then thats about the only one. I watched game footage from E3 today which covered games on all three of the main consoles (plus the GBA) and some of the GC games just really didn't impress me at all. The cell shaded Zelda has to be the worst of the bunch, if they'd used a more anime style, then it might have looked ok, but Link looks about as well drawn as Henry's Cat and watching the game in motion, it just looks a real let down. Mario Sunshine isn't far behind either to me. From what I saw, that game looked pretty poor - a poo Mario turns eco warrior style game and certain elements of the graphics didn't really look right.

I also saw Starfox : Dinosaur Planet and again, there wasn't much to make me regret getting rid of my GC. The only games that did appeal to me when I saw the footage were F-Zero and the Resi Evil games. I saw Metroid Prime and although it looks like its coming along nicely, I just didn't see anything that would pull me away from FPS games like Halo.

As for the games I had on the GC, I completed Luigi's Mansion pretty quickly and it didn't take too long to do the hidden mansion mode. Thing is with the second mode, it was more luck than skill that I got through a lot of rooms because I would get a stupid amount of ghosts with very little space to move. Wave Race I found boring and also frustrating in the way that there was little help in being told the direction I was supposed to go, so I'd turn into an area which looked very open only to find I didn't turn extremely sharply enough to get a stupid buoy that was hiding round a blind corner. Of course while I was in this situation, the CPU was doing the usual thing of following a perfect race line.

Rogue Leader was nice because I'm a Star Wars fan, but even that lost its appeal quickly. I couldn't enjoy the battle of Hoth, etc because theres just too much pressure to get everything done too quickly. Of course there are medals to be earned, but sometimes I just wanted to relax and enjoy a level and I just wasn't allowed to do that. Plus I don't see why there couldn't be more rebel support in missions rather than the tired old situation of everyones hopes being rested on you alone (with 2 useless wingmen). Levels like Hoth could have been a lot better if there were more speeders flying around, attacking the Empire forces and even getting shot down around you. Battle of Endor had a lot of ships, but quite what most of them were doing god only knows. No sooner that I'd go off to enjoy the level, I'd be called back to defend yet another stupid rebel ship (alone of course). Overall, Rogue Leader could have been a lot better. With Slave 1 being such a big pile of cack, I dunno why they even bothered putting the ship in the game other than to be a solution for one or two easy gold medals.

I also played Monkey Ball at a friends house and if not for the mini games, I would have been very much through with that by the end of the day. About a week later, I got tired of the mini games too because no matter how much I was practising, it still really came down to more luck than judgement in getting high scores, etc.

Anyway, moan over. I'm sure other people love the GC, but for me, it was a disappointment.

For a superb little Nintendo box of goodness, you got Fifa (!), a very cheap PC manager sim (which is good, but far cheaper on PC) and a literaly shocking rubbish wrestling game?

Oh dear, oh dear.................... :)

I traded the GC and 2 games for 3 X-Box games. I got Legends of Wrestling sorted out for Jay, then I got myself Fifa World Cup 2002 and Champ Manager. Would have had Luigi's Mansion to trade in too, only it had that little "accident".

Well the Gamecube is gone now so the X-Box has the shelf to itself again. I don't regret taking it back because I'm happy with my X-Box and its bringing me loads of excellent games to play. :-)
