I mean musically, of course. That was the whole point of last nights Jubilee celebrations - a concert to showcase music throughout the Queen's reign. Except they missed out the punk, new wave, new romantic and most of the rock era, opting for 'safe' acts like SClub7 and reliable old cliff Richard. Surely the Queen herself should have chosen the acts for the concert? Afterall, she's the one who has had to sit in the public limelight for 50 years, having every move analysed and scrutinised. Just for once she should have let her hair down and given some hint of the music she would have chosen - that would make her more human.

I'm not bashing royalty - I know we need a head of Monarchy to cement our independence and give us a friendly face abroad for all sorts of PR nonsense. It's the music that annoyed me. A concert devoid of style and talent, filled with the bland 'popstars' that we see on tele everyday. Sure they had Ozzie, but it became a novelty act (like a dancing bear - dangerous, but safely held back).

I think Liquid News (a programme run by the BBC and hosted on BBC Choice) said it best: "Bland, middle of the road has-beens", I believe the phrase was. Cheers BBC - you made me cry...with laughter!

That American dude was just scary. He sat there like a wax puppet, like something out of Thunderbirds. Did anyone notice he was totally devoid of interest and was totally uninteresting, apart from the odd wave at "Good vibrations". I swear though, he DID look like something out of Thunderbirds. It was uncanny.

Wasn't he a Beech Boy or something?

Ruby Wax was just BORING!

I was mega impressed with S Club 7 though, that was the first ever time I have EVER heard them sing live!

Saying that, everybody sang live which was quite an acheivement for British music!

P.S Anybody know what S CLub 7 are changing their name too? S Club 6 sounds rather funny!

Not to mention the fact that the S Clubbers and Cliff are hardly the epitome of 'In'.

It was such nonsense, the queen hiring people who were "in" in a desperate attempt to reaffirm her idea that she is "in Touch" with the people. She lives in a castle and is being carted around in a gold carriage, how can she be one of the people.
