But I don't just thing that The King knows nothing about wrestling, but this goes for all the commentators in the WWE except TAZZ. The announcers never seem to commentate on any of the matches they just talk about the up and coming main event of that evening, then occasionally say "Nice Move" only TAZZ seems to know the names of any of the moves which are being performed and he's the only one who attempts to call the match, but it hard when Micheal Cole going
"The main event Edge Vs. Angle Steel Cage Tonight"
Every 5 seconds. The WWE needs a commentator like Joey Stiles from ECW to call the matches with Tazz on Raw, Smackdown and the PPVs. People who actually call the matches.

Tazz used to be one of ECW's best wrestlers but in the WWF he hasn't been given any singles title other than the hardcore title. He's at least worthy of the IC title. Commentating just makes it clear the WWE don't rate him as a serious wrestler. Maybe when Tazz's wrestling career is over he should return to commentry but he has a good few years left in him.

From reading all this info since I last posted on hear I see we have some varied opinions on this matter. Personnaly I agree with some of what people are saying, I'd definatly like to have Tazz consentrate on actually wrestling rather than commentary, but if he left Smackdown's commentary would really suck cos someone like the Coach would replace him.
Also if the match really sucks then I agree they should say something about up and coming matches just to keep you watching not just talk about that until the match is over, some commentary should be done even if the match is really bad.
One thing don't agree is calling Michael Cole a play-by-play commentator because he shows vertually no knowledge of any of the moves and he's worse than JR when it comes to talking about main events or other storylines. The real play-by-play commentators are Tazz & JR (even though he doesn't show it that often) The King brings the laughs and Cole is just plain annoying.

I think Tazz and Michael Cole can be a better commentary team than JR and The King sometimes.

For example in a Crash vs some jobber match they will be constantly talking about how good Smackdown was.

Tazz, the King and Raven are colour commentators unlike JR and Michael Cole who are the play by play commentators. Colour commentators do not need to know every wrestling moves but instead give their twisted view of things and why it's happening.

I think that the commentators have to achieve a healthy mix between calling the match and talk about up and coming events. If you are watching an absolute stinker of a match, then they have to try and keep you watching, don't they?

Raven has been the color commentator on Heat since the roster split, but he has now left this post to concentrate on his wrestling. Something I wish Tazz would do, no slurr on his commentary skills but I feel he still has a lot more to offer in the ring.

Thing is...wrestlers like Taker don't actually do many proper moves. It's just punches over and over.

When commenating on people like Benoit though, he could be a bit more specific.

Although that is true and continually hyping the main event and things that have happened is annoying, I would be bored out of my skull if they just continually listed moves that have been pulled off.

The team of J.R and the King is brilliant. J.R gives you all the facts and the King makes it funny.

Hopefully Raven will become a commentator soon, last time I saw him do commentary it was brilliant.

JR may live and breathe wrestling but he never seems to show any knowledge of wrestling, he doesn't ever call the match he talks about the main event before it's even started. The only thing you really hear JR say is
"Oh my God he's been busted wide open."
JR only occasionally says some names of moves but he only refers to all types of belly-2-belly suplexes as standard ones he never mentions the variations when they are performed, like Overhead release B2Bs or a Double Underhook B2B.
The commentators may have all the knowledge in the world about wrestling but they never show it.

Have you ever heard of Jim Ross who absolutely lives and breathes the business and knows just about every wrestling move ever performed.
