Well yesterday I got Tony Hawks 3 and I am stuck. Its on career mode and its level Suburbia. I need to complete 2 more goals to move onto the next level and I cant restore the power in the dish or heelfilp the trailer (although I heelflip it nothing happens, its the one with the man with the camera right?)

You can also check if you're performing the right manouvre as the blue writing will appear, it will count as a combo move. So tell me...how do you get 400,000 points on Los Angeles?

Righto then.
Varial Kickflip the steps, go to the steps where the guy is taking the photos, (as always) and simply grind down one steps rail, jump off and varial kickflip (Diagonal left down and B) and grind back up the other steps rail. It's better if you grind then jump as soon as possible so you have enough time to do the trick.
The secret tape is easy, go up to where the car was stuck after you started the earthquake and go all the way across the broken road (keep going) until you reach a big gap. Now to your right there will be some conviniently placed wood set up like a ramp which you can jump off (Tap forward twice then jump to get a boost to jump across). Once on top of the ledge jump another gap then turn right where there's a part sticking out, at the end of this part you jump and grind the wire to where the secret tape is. A walla!

But my problem is that even if I do a Varial kickflip over it, nothing happens.
I haven't got to that stage yet but I suggest you look up the buttons for a varial kickflip, then jump off/over the stairs and do one.

Oh by the by you CAN do the heelflip as a part of a combo and it still counts, just go off the ramp against the trailer with the camera dude on, the ramp is on the far side.
Just grind the wires leading to and from the house with the dish on, go up to the top of the house that had the pumpkin outside it (go round the back and there's a ramp leading up) and a walla!

HEELFLIP THE TRAILER
Ok, you're right in that its the trailer with the dude standing on top. Get yerself Special by busting some moves and then go to the other end of the trailer, where the level boundary is. There should be a grey vert ramp leading up to it and then a corrugated fence. Use the vert ramp to get speed and when you come back down on it you'll be heading towards the trailer. Go up the ramp at the end of the trailer holding UP to go over the trailer and Heelflip in the air. Bear in mind that it has to be a single heelflip, no combos. You have to clear the whole trailer and land on the floor on the other side. You know you've got the right gap when a blue sign comes up saying 'Trailer Hop!"
Now for the TV signal. Go into the backyard with the BBQ and stop. Look around with C and you'll see wires across between the two houses. If you look at the opposite house (the one in the direction of the Trailer Hop) You'll notice that you can get onto the roof by rolling up the runway on the right of the house. Now turn and double back on yourself once on the roof to be looking back down into the yard. You'll see the wires in front of you. Jump onto the nearest one and grind along it to the other house and stop on that roof. Now turn back towards the other house and you'll see another cable. Grind that one.
