However, there is something even more evil than the above, and I'm sure many of you have felt the wrath of this evil already. That is: Exams.
Sure, I'm a veteran when it comes to taking exams. I've passed my year 1/2 (which ever it is) SATs, year 6 SATs, year 9 SATs, year 10 mocks, year 11 mocks and even GCSEs! So I should be used to exams by now surely!
But there was one thing I wasn't prepared for....AS levels.
I have to say I've done just about all of them now, though I can bet anything I'll be taking at least one resit! Here's my exam timetable:
Wednesday 28th May - History - 3 hours
Thursday 29th May - IT - 3 hours
Friday 30th May - Physics - 3 hours
Thursday 6th June - GameCube - For ages!
Tuesday 11th June - Physics - 1.5 hours
So as you can see, I've had it bad with AS exams! Sure, I ain't got as many as I had for GCSEs, year 11s and year 10s, but look at the length of the majority! 3 Hours! Do you realise how hard it is to sit there and keep quiet for 3 hours whilst trying to do the most impossible exams? As I said, it's EVIL!
History:
The Nazi Germany paper went fine, but that's what you'd expect with a Nazi Germany teacher called Dr. Litler (who got her doctorate in Medieval Fishing Techniques allegedly). If you don't believe that's her name (Litler as opposed to Hitler) then search for Llanishen High and call the school!
Russian and Imperial history papers went really badly! I knew they were going to be hard. But my mind blanked and I couldn't remember any proper details! The Germany paper was source based, but these two were essay based! They were SOOOO HARD! I ended up giving very vague answers and I'm just hoping for the best.
IT (Computing):
These two exams went fine! I was amazed that I was the only one writing in the last half hour with each paper. I think everyone else stuck short answers, or wrote at the speed of light, though I think it's the first reason. The trouble with IT is that if you give short answers, and don't explain everything properly, there's no chance of getting full marks. ah well, I gave it my best, answered as fully as I could, and I reckon out of all the exams I've taken so far, the IT papers are the ones I did best in.
Physics:
Well I've still the 1.5 hour paper left to do, and I'm not very confident (as opposed to incontinent) that I got a high grade. I reckon I got enough for a pass, but I was guessing most the answers. Why is it that the papers weren't even similar to last years ones we used as practise tests? It's just not fair!
GameCube:
6th of June I will be purchasing my GameCube. I'm fairly confident that I will enjoy this over everything else. The only trouble is, I wont be able to get out of my seat for ages, as I'll be glued to the screen controlling animated figures fighting each other, racing and sucking up ghosts. Hope to get good results, got my fingers crossed!
Exams are EVIL! Sorry for sounding as camp as Brian from Big Brother 2, but it's true! As-levels (and the full A-levels) are meant to be the hardest qualifications in the world to get, and I can see why! There is so much packed into each course, that the teachers have had many years to learn, we've had 9 or so months to learn.
If you've just finished your GCSE's and are thinking of staying on for 6th form, think very hard about it. Socially, it's brilliant, however you wont know what stress is til you've started getting the coursework assignments and the exams start getting ever closer.
Exams = Evil.
Nuff said.
And I'm not going to revise for ANY of them!
